This out of touch relic needs to go tf home to his family and leave people who care about the future to clean this shit up.
I really wish there was a maximum age to the presidency as well as a minimum age. Yes, it would eliminate a lot of people all over the spectrum from the race but I would rather trust someone that was going to personally feel the long term effects of policies.

I have liked Kamala Harris for a while now, but I'm starting to wonder if she will have what it takes to beat Trump.
I like her qualifications when I read them, but she hasn't really impressed me otherwise. When that animal-activist-asshole took over her stage, she was calm (which is good enough), but Karine Jean-Pierre immediately stood up and put that guy in his place. My thought was "Now THAT is the woman I want to run for president."

I feel most of the top dems (Warren, Sanders, Buttigieg, and sev others) could all win against Trump if given support. Unfortunately it seems the only message being sent out to those that dont really follow this stuff (like in many areas we are not the norm once again :p ) is that Biden is the chosen one.
Jeb! was the chosen one, too, at the start of the 2016 campaign, and see how well that went for him. Biden is at the top of the polls now because of name recognition and association with the Obama Administration. That gives him a leg up -- and more power to him for having that -- but he can't coast on those stats because they're going to evaporate over time. He has to build on that advantage with hard work, a solid ground game and by avoiding gaffes.

My extreme skepticism about anointing Biden as the best hope against Trump is based on his past history and present performance. He is gaffe-prone, he is stubborn, and he is impulsive and erratic. He's made a run for the presidency before and it did not go well, and I haven't seen any evidence that he's matured or learned from past experiences. Quite the contrary. He's already making unforced errors and is doubling-down on them with testy impatience. More importantly, he's months behind on setting up state machinery for the first primaries.

Personally, I don't think he can go the distance and I hope to god that he implodes before he gets the Democratic nomination, rather than after. It drives me crazy to hear people say that he's our best chance at beating Trump because I sincerely do not believe that. I think he's a wild card and a high risk candidate to throw against Trump.

If Biden still has the highest support ratings after two or three debates, then I'll concede that he's The Chosen One. But I think anyone who reaches that conclusion now is jumping the gun. He's NOT a sure bet.

It’s not a question among most Dem voters who they will vote for in the General: whomever is not Trump. 99% agree to do that.

Its not even an issue.

What concerns me is, for example, is who will resisters vote for in the primary once it is clear who the non voters and under represented minorities prefer. At that point it’s not about my policy preferences, it’s about who, according to the best available data, is most likely to beat trump. Because that is job one.
Although it may or may not be an independent.

Before someone screams: shut up. I live in DC. There is precisely 0 chance the electoral college vote here will not go to whoever the DNC nominates. No, I can not even write to "my senator" to convey my feelings about the electoral college because DC residents are not full citizens. We were not even able to vote for the president until the 50s. Does anyone have any idea how many fucks DC residents give to the rest of the country telling us what to do?

To me it’s way too early to decide anything. I have donated to several candidates I would be esp pleased to see win, but I won’t pick someone to vote for until polls give a clear front runner vs Trump. Because when Godzilla comes through trampling cities and flinging buses, stopping him is job one.

What I have planned to do is work for the local Democratic Party like I did in 2018, help get out the vote, and support local candidates. Georgia came within 1.4% of electing a Democratic governor last time. We will have a couple of more years of demographic shift behind us, so flipping the state is within reach if people come out to vote.

Warren's pledge to end private prisons sends shares reeling

Shares of private prisons GEO Group Inc. and CoreCivic Inc. took a hit Friday morning after presidential candidate Senator Elizabeth Warren tweeted about about her plan to terminate them.

GEO slid as much as 5.8%, its biggest intraday loss since March, and CoreCivic retreated as much as 6%, the largest intraday decline this year.

Warren, a Massachusetts Democrat, said in a tweet that “private prison companies have spent millions to turn our criminal and immigration policies into ones that prioritize making them rich instead of keeping us safe —with terrible consequences. Today I’m announcing my plan to end this private profiteering off of cruelty.”
Wall Street is certainly taking Warren's candidacy seriously.

When you look at the nonvoters you have to look at adults under 40, the very poor, and groups locked out of the two main parties.

And these polls are not giving us that, for the most part. Polls of likely voters with phones are basically polls of over 50 because they are the current likely voters. Of course they favor old men and Trump most of all.

So if we think we have to vote for whoever is polling, we’ve been lied to. We’ve been told by the press who to vote for.

The energy I’m seeing young people express is not with Biden. It’s with progressive policy ideas.

If the Dems nominate someone these young people recognize as their corporate boss, it’s going to be a lot harder to get out their vote.

I absolutely refuse to "pledge" allegiance to any party. Period. The majority of Americans are independent and unrepresented. 70% of Americans want Medicare for All, 60% want tuition-free college, 65% want economic justice. The vast majority of Americans don't care about war and imperialism. We care about saving ourselves. It's difficult to cite percentages about imperialism because it's nearly a forbidden question. So "No!". Why should citizens of the richest country in the world pledge to poor health, extortion, war, poverty, and ignorance? The road away from Trump is clear and uncomplicated. No pledges necessary. You either support the candidates who are unwavering on what the majority wants, right now, or you mount your pledges for your wailing wall. If you pledge support for the " I don't think we can do it " candidates, >> YOU<< not us , are ensuring that nothing will change. It's as good as a pledge for Trump.

Voting for someone who hasn't got a snowball's chance of winning is also a vote for Trump, practically speaking.

But hey! If you have a candidate in mind, tell us their name, and show us the numbers. Sanders? Already donating to him, and he's the most likely to have my vote come primary time ...but he also doesn't have a snowball's chance. The DNC is going to ratfuck him five ways from Friday long before then, and you know it.

Someone else? Name and numbers.

The problem is, in quite a few states, to vote in the primaries requires registering as one of the two main parties. And sometimes, even registering for the prevalent party, because otherwise you don't get a voice in your primaries at all, because there is no other choice. That said, I'm a DINO, because I'm a registered dem, but I'm far too left/progressive to really be one.

Support him, anyway. Make them have to ratfuck him so hard that people notice. It's people who still trust the media and the political process that are preventing us from having nice things. If their fiction gets untenable enough, people will wake up. Make them have to pull out all the stops on the ratfucking.

Ok, I will bite. I can vote for ANYONE at all and my vote will be worth 0 because the electoral college vote here is basically preordained.

No, it's the people who own the media and who own the political parties that are preventing us from having nice things.

But yeah, apart from that I agree with you and I'm there.

Joe Biden wanted to criminalise raves, resurfaced footage shows: 'I would put the son of a gun in jail' | The Independent

"If I were governor of my state or the mayor of my town, I would be passing new ordinances relating to stiff criminal penalties for anyone who holds a rave, the promoter, the guy who owns the building, I would put the son of a gun in jail, I would change the law,” he said.

He continued: "There's no doubt about where these raves are, in the middle of the desert. Arrest the promoter, find a rationale unrelated to drugs.”
Look who just lost the furry vote. :)
