Sorry. I know you come from a well-considered position and aren't a TV watching idiot.

I suspect it's [bronx-accent]millionaires and billionaires[/bronx-accent], but no...not really.
It's Brooklyn, not the Bronx.

But the problem is that the media has an outsized influence on how people perceive the world. It was the media that sold the lies about Iraq to the American people. Dissenting views are routinely squashed. People may not watch TV, but it's not just TV. Our papers of record all have a harmonious range of discourse, and anti-war voices are routinely stifled.

I don't why Gabbard is the flash point of this argument.

She's barely a Democrat. The only reason she is is because Hawaii is functionally a one party state so anyone who wants to get elected to anything has to be a Democrat.

FFS she blew off a campaign event in order to appear on Fox News' White Power Power Hour and shit on someone who isn't even running in the election.

Serious question. Is "Fox News' White Power Power Hour " really the name of a Fox News Show?

No. But Tucker Carlson is a white supremacist shitstain. Unfortunately, he is a broken clock that is occasionally right on some issues (non-intervention). I hate that she went there, she does herself no favors with the loyal Democratic base. But she's clearly appealing to Independents, that is where most of her support comes from, and a lot of Independents do watch Fox.

She's not for non-intervention. She describes herself as a hawk when it comes to terrorism. Saying the president can bomb other countries without congress' permission and continuing to kill people via drone bombings is not an anti-imperialist perspective and these things would only continue to fuel the "endless war" she supposedly is fighting against.

She's going on Tucker Carlson because she's trying to position herself as the reasonable conservative Democrat who can get brought onto Fox News segments making fat stacks as a contributor as they pretend to show the other side.

Well, no, I wouldn't call her a complete non-interventionist. But she wouldn't have gone into Libya to get rid of Gaddafi, she would not have supported the coup in Honduras, Etc. And I do believe that she has advocated for Congress to assume its role in the war making decisions, so I don't think that's quite right.

I do hope Gabbard honors her commitment to not running as a third party candidate. There is no way she's getting the Democratic nomination, it's all moot anyway.
I'm not so sure - this spat she's having with Hillary Clinton is pretty much guaranteeing that a lot of people are taking a second look at her - especially all the people who went 3rd party or even voted for Trump last time around. All my Libertarian friend LOVE her for some reason...

None of that translates into her having any chance at the nomination - she's not above single digits in polling.

I don't think Tulsi ever had any intention of running as third party. I think there is some fear of where she is going to throw her support when she's finished in the primary. AOC and friends recent endorsement of Sanders isn't being celebrated by some factions of the party. The timing of this Clinton distraction is a bit suspect.

Her anti-interventionist stance has a wide draw. I have libertarian friends that are looking at her too, people disgusted by Trump but hated Hillary Clinton.

Esquire's Charles Pierce has something to say...
Gabbard's continued presence in the Democratic field is preposterous. She's polling in the lowest of the low single digits. Her positions on a number of issues have no constituency within the Democratic Party, and very little of one in the general electorate. HRC, on the other hand, no matter what you may think of her, got more votes for president than any Democratic candidate in American history. If she wants to continue to step out on issues within in the party, she's more than entitled to do so. In any case, if there's one person qualified to judge the effectiveness of foreign-influenced straw candidates, it's Hillary Rodham Clinton.
