They could swim there instead...
They should be asked by someone convincingly sympathetic to them: "what would you have Trump do to Biden if he could flip the election."

And then do that to them. I'm sure it'll be beyond horrible.

Certainly I have no objections to banging up Limbaugh, Alex Jones and a whole basket of deplorable politicians and journalists in the dungeons of the Peter and Paul Fortress, or exiling them to Alaska (preferably making them walk there, if the Canadians will let the prisoners and escort pass through their country).

And it looks like they will be prosecuting everyone they can:

The top prosecutor on the case, acting U.S. Attorney Michael Sherwin, said the goal is to identify as many people as possible who entered the Capitol during the siege.

"Regardless of the level of criminal conduct, we're not selectively targeting or just trying to charge the most significant crime," Sherwin said. "If a crime was committed we are charging you, whether you were outside or inside the Capitol."

He said prosecutors were not concerned that opening a large number of cases could overwhelm the FBI or federal judges. "There's no manpower issue here. We have no issues with the court."

They think they are the real israelites, and white jews stole their birthright or something, so they want some kind of holy war against white people.
In real history, Judaism spread as far as Ethiopia, the SE coast of France, and central Asia, but then later got overwhelmed by Christianity and Islam. Unless they are later converts, these folks would be descended from the Ethiopian Jews, and never lived in what is now Israel or Jewish quarters in surrounding Islamic countries.

Re: post above this one:

The Justice Dept. has 113,000 employees. They can do more than one thing at a time. There are about 1200 federal district and magistrate judges. They can also do more than one thing at a time. I assume they can merge similar cases, like simple trespass with no other charges.

Courts can only hear one case at a time, though, and if the federal courts are anything like as backed up as are the British ones because of Covid, this is going to be a considerable extra burden on the system, at least if enough of these fantasists start launching crackpot "kraken" defences, which I fear a lot of them are deluded enough to believe.

Furthermore, the events of Jan 6 are only part of the story -- there are clearly conspiracies to unravel, as new evidence becomes available during the course of the investigation, and these will doubtless become part of investigations in the far right and militias in general, and plots to kidnap governors and other state officials in particular states.

Meanwhile, of course, the Justice Department is trying to recover from all the damage Trump has done to it over the last four years.

Incidentally, this was the 2nd coup attempt in the United States (not counting the civil war).

Incidentally

It depends on how you define what a coup is.

Washington, D.C.’s top federal prosecutor on Tuesday previewed more, and more complicated, charges for individuals involved in the Capitol attack earlier this month as the pool of evidence from the event continues to grow.

As investigators picked apart tips, video, social media information and other leads for hundreds of distinct case files, D.C.’s Acting U.S. Attorney Michael Sherwin said he expected that his office would bring more conspiracy, sedition and assault on law enforcement charges against Capitol attackers.

That’s on top of other charges like trespassing and impeding official activities that have been filed for weeks now.

Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene repeatedly indicated support for executing prominent Democratic politicians in 2018 and 2019 before being elected to Congress, a CNN KFile review of hundreds of posts and comments from Greene's Facebook page shows.

Greene, who represents Georgia's 14th Congressional District, frequently posted far-right extremist and debunked conspiracy theories on her page, including the baseless QAnon conspiracy which casts former President Donald Trump in an imagined battle against a sinister cabal of Democrats and celebrities who abuse children.

In one post, from January 2019, Greene liked a comment that said "a bullet to the head would be quicker" to remove House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. In other posts, Greene liked comments about executing FBI agents who, in her eyes, were part of the "deep state" working against Trump.

Trump's cattle prod endurance survivor and American traitor wants to move on.

During an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity on Tuesday night, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) railed against Democrats’ push for impeaching ex-President Donald Trump for inciting the attack on the Capitol, which ultimately led to five deaths.

“They’re engaging on an act that I think is petty, I think it is retribution, I think it is vindictive, and I think it’s a waste of time,” the Texas Republican complained.

“And so to coin a phrase, I think it’s time to move on,” he continued. “It’s time to move on and focus on helping people get back to work, helping people beat this global pandemic, bringing America back to where we should be....”
Obviously Cruz is not a walk and chew gum sort of person, but I think we can punish Trump for his efforts in setting off a coup AND do all those other things.

I take it back, especially reading -why- he fired his lawyer. He's clearly a brainwashed MAGAt and a useless waste of something posing as human.
Ugh, wish this story would just die. I was wrong again. I thought student fired off a death2pence insurrection day related tweet, and fired his lawyer for saying the tweet was stupid. It was the other way around. Student is still a delusional maggot, clearly, but his ex-lawyer is much worse.
