So unfortunately here's the deal with impeachment:

Late Friday, NBC News has obtained a memo circulated to Senate Republicans by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell entitled “Impeachment Procedure Summary.”

The memo lays out a timeline for a potential impeachment trial, and states that without a unanimous consent agreement from all 100 Senators to bring the Senate back from recess on the next 10 days, the soonest the Senate could receive articles of impeachment from the House would be on January 19th.

This memo essentially states that if Democrats want to impeach President Trump, it will take up floor time during the first moments of Joe Biden’s presidency, and a Democratic Congress.

A source familiar said that Republican Leader McConnell and Democratic Leader Schumer were briefed by the Senate parliamentarian today.
I still believe that the House should impeach, even if the GOP-controlled Senate refuses to return to deal with it before the inauguration. But this does unfortunately mean that Trump's term will not end earlier than scheduled. I know how disappointing it is; but Trump's term ending doesn't moot the impeachment. If successful, even after he's gone, it can prevent him from ever returning and cancel his taxpayer salary.

It's worth doing because he committed a crime in broad view of the entire country and incited an insurrection. It's not a complex charge and it's not going to require an extended period to gather evidence.

Now that McConnell has his wife away from 45's cabinet situation, and feeling VERY unhappy with DJT inciting the invasion of his sacred Senate, we may find that McConnell understands the only way forward for both his party and the country is to disavow Trumpism. We only need 17 senators.

If he is "removed" by the Senate, he loses all post-presidential benefits and cannot hold federal office again. That means no Secret Service detail if NY or GA decides to prosecute him after the 20th.

Counting the dead... one was shot while trying to attack congress members, one tazed his own nuts until he died, one fell off a wall, and then there's this woman, who was trampled to death while carrying a flag reading, "don't tread on me."

I think I understand what the term 'medical emergency' means now. If the media says somebody died from a medical emergency, that is a euphamism for they died in such a rediculous way, the journalist can't describe it with a straight face.

Only one week in, and 2021 already has sime stiff competition for darwin awards.

Far more were charged with felony rioting during the BLM protests. Many were charged with felony rioting, not the misdemeanor unlawful entry.
