Wow, at least AoC has enough decency left in her body to criticize in a recent tweet quotes like below about Kirk's death:

He was killed on camera. No ones family deserves to have to witness that. It's unthinkably cruel that people then would go on the internet and use their platform to say about an innocent man that "I don't care that he's dead." "He's not a hero." "He's a scumbag." "He should not be celebrated."

Plot twist: the quotes are all by Kirk, this is what he told back then about the death of George Floyd. Of course AoC didn't tweet such a thing.

The Onion has always been recognized as a first-rate satirical publication, making fun of all that is absurd in our socio-political world. However, in today's contemporary political environment, our brand has simply gotten muddled. And I can say with clarity that today's GOP is fully to blame.

This isn't a both sides thing. This is a militant authoritarian siege that will not rest until it has eradicated black history, latino culture, women's reproductive freedom, LGBTQ+ visibility/equality and education/healthcare for the masses.

The civil rights movement and sexual revolution knocked them down a few pegs, but they're back, motivated, armed, funded and determined to rip the reigns of power out of everyone else's hands. This is the "Rich White Dad Utopia" movement, where they and only they have any power at all, and everyone else has to either obey or stay off the radar lest they be 'vanished' by blacklisting, deportation, incarceration, 'lone mad right-wing gunman' or worse.


You can't have discourse with someone who's convinced that they don't even need to win an argument with you, because you, as a person... 'don't count' and aren't taken seriously by anyone who does.

the left never stood a chance, they only temporarily gained a little ground in their effort to get people to just be a little more respectful to people who're different... and that was escalated into some sort of 'totalitarian authoritarian hostile life-threatening menace'. If it weren't that, the right would have found some other issue to start banging their war drums over.

I have been seeing a fair amoint of "Well if we cpuld all just get along" going around for "EnLiGhTeNeD CeNtRiSt" types lately.

Like yes, exactly. You have one "side" just wanting to exist, and one "side" trying to erase giant swaths of people from society through criminalizing or just flat out murder (see thatvdude's comment on homeless people).

This isn't a side thing. Its totalitarian assholes, and everyone else. But somehow, there are people who bury their head and can't see the difference.

Which is another thing these assholes have done, is create more of these useful idiot.centrist types. More and more I see people who are like "I deleted social media and now I am less stressed and everything is better!"

You are ignoring that your parent or coworker is colossal racist asshole (etc etc etc) because you don't want to tell them they are a fucking asshole and their views are shittt, they might stop bringing cookies for you on Fridays (or whatever banal shit they are doing).

Or worse, you "agree" on like, one issue, but you prop up everything else these assholes are doing because you've bought the lie they are puahing re: (single issue) you care about.

Conservatives now want to cancel game studio Bethesda after they released a trailer on social media for an upcoming DLC to their game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

Indiana Jones's defining characteristic is that he punches lots and lots of Nazis and you get to do that in the game of course, but before you get to the Nazi-punching, the first "level" of the game puts you in Rome where you have to tussle with Mussolini's capital-F Fascists, and at various points throughout the level Jones makes a few snarky and unkind off-the-cuff remarks about Fascists.

In the DLC that's being released, you're apparently back in Rome, and there is one scene featured in the trailer where Indiana Jones says to a cat that he's petting, "You don't care much about these Fascists, do you?"

The trailer does not mention Charlie Kirk, and nobody at Bethesda Studios has ever made a remark about Charlie Kirk; nevertheless, conservatives feel that Jones's quip about Fascists can only be a reference attacking Charlie Kirk, and they are demanding that Bethesda publicly apologize for posting it and possibly fire some employees.
