Scotland is on the list again.

I don't know how credible that is. My first instinct is that it is probably not Trump, it is probably Melania and/or other family members. Last I heard, Trump was planning to "steal press coverage" from the Biden inauguration by holding a competing all-afternoon event centered on himself. I would presume he would want his family with him for the duration but maybe not? Or maybe he wasn't really planning such an event after all. Or maybe he was but has changed his mind. Honestly who even knows with this guy.

The official message from the Scots government (the whole of the UK, come to that, but certainly from Edinburgh) to everyone is "Stay at home," and that will last until mid-February at the earliest (more likely until Easter, or thereabouts).

If he does turn up in Scotand, he and his entourage will have to self-isolate for 10 days, and they may subsequently find it difficult to travel on to many other countries from the UK.

I think it would also be fair to assume the police in Scotland will make sure he and his party observe all regulations to the letter during their stay, now he's lost diplomatic protection.

ETA Just seen this:

It's not like Trump has any skill for planning these things.
From The Guardian story

Flying to Scotland before 20 January would be a way to get US taxpayers to pay for the first leg of a post-presidential holiday. It is also possible the flight was booked as a contingency by a candidate surprised by defeat and unsure what to do.
The Guardian also notes that
The 757 is a smaller, narrower plane than the Boeing 747-200Bs that are normally designated Air Force One. It is more often used by the vice-president and first lady, Melania Trump, than the president.
so maybe it's Pence channelling Rudolf Hess by fleeing to Scotland.

Or Melania and Pence secretly found love together and are eloping to escape both Trump and "mother"?

ETA

This could get YUGELY entertaining if Trump decides he's not going to let some foreign woman, probably a leftist of some sort, tell him he can't play golf at his own golf resort, turns up anyway, and gets himself arrested.

This is where he discovers that Scotland isn't Michigan, and he can't whistle up a bunch of Proud Boys to try to intimidate her (though it would be entertaining to watch them try).

Following the abrupt Monday resignation of Byung Jin “BJay” Pak, the U.S. attorney in Atlanta, President Trump is bypassing his first assistant, a career prosecutor, to name a new acting leader from outside the office.

The announcement came early Tuesday morning in an internal email obtained by TPM.

The new acting U.S. attorney in Atlanta will be Bobby Christine, the Trump-appointed U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Georgia, according to the email. Christine will continue simultaneously in both roles, according to the email.

Remind me, who in Georgia would be responsible for deciding if Trump should be prosecuted for that phone call?
That is a matter of discussion in Georgia right now. The issue is whether or not the President violated a state law, and it is not a federal law. The Sec. of State has gone on record as saying it would be inappropriate for his office to conduct any investigation since he was part of the call. It appears that the Sec. of State was in Fulton county when he took part in the phone call. It is being reported that the Georgia District Attorney in Fulton county has expressed an interest in looking into the phone call but I am not aware of anything definitive yet. Fulton county is an overwhelmingly Democratic part of the state, and it is likely that the District Attorney would love to do something big to draw attention to herself. If the District Attorney decides that the President violated the law and she can prove it, then this could take an interesting turn for the President. It will likely be difficult, though, to make the case that the President was influencing the Sec. of State with a single phone call with oblique language, so this may well just slowly fizzle out.

The reason that I ask is that isn't it the U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of NY that is looking at charges in NY? This gal was just assigned the position of U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of GA. There is also a Northern District one.

The US Attorney for the Southern District of NY covers New York City, so they would be covering any criminal activities that took place in New York where the Trump Organization is headquartered; HOWEVER as far as I know, right now the SDNY isn't investigating anything federal that is Trump-related; in fact I don't believe any federal attorney anywhere in the country is investigating anything to do with Trump right now. Purely for practical reasons, because it is expected that Trump would absolutely pardon anyone connected with his organization that would be criminally liable, so an investigation right now would literally be a waste of time and money.

That's not to say that no federal attorney anywhere in the country might begin an investigation related to Trump sometime after January 20th.

Right now in New York both the state attorney's office and the city attorney's office are deep into investigating the Trump Organization. They can't prosecute anything Trump did in his capacity as president of the United States. But they can seriously savage or even completely destroy his corrupt business based on what they're able to find and there's absolutely nothing he can do to stop them.

It is far more likely that the departing Federal Attorneys were being pressured to investigate people and claims that they knew they had no legal basis to investigate so that Trump cold point to the existence of an investigation to bolster his claims.

State crime, so the Fulton County District Attorney (because Raffensperger, who Trump called, works in the State Capitol, which is in that county).

Any federal crimes would likely be prosecuted by the US attorney in Washington, D.C. since that is where the call originated. The Justice Department might handle it directly, via their elections fraud department. By that time Biden's Attorney General would be in place.
