Gevers, 44, disclosed the hack immediately, saying the password he guessed was “maga2020!”, referring to the Trump slogan “Make America Great Again”.

It was not the first time Gevers had gained access to the president’s Twitter account: In 2016 he and two others guessed Trump’s password, which at the time was “yourefired” – the catchphrase from the reality TV The Apprentice.

Trump hasn't been appointing judges because they agree with him, though.

He's been appointing judges recommended to him by the Federalist Society, who are interested in promoting a particular conservative theory of legal interpretation, which many wealthy Americans find attractive because it seems to regard the right to acquire and hold as much wealth as possible, with as little interference as possible from the federal government, as the keystone of all other American freedoms.

However, that's not all that conservative legal theorists believe -- they also believe very strongly in an independent judiciary, and the idea that they owe any favours to the president who appointed them, let alone that they should participate in an attempted coup on his behalf, will be as repulsive to them as it is to every other right-thinking person.

Credit where it's due -- the conduct of state and federal judges at all levels during this massive abuse of the judicial process and attempted coup has been exemplary. They've treated this seditious nonsense with the contempt it deserves, no matter who appointed them.

But, it's been a mutually beneficial relationship between the two entities. Trump bought the former estate of Marjorie Merriweather Post in 1985, and subsequently turned it into a members’ only club in 1993. The plan was — as with most Trump deals — to turn a profit. Yet in order to transform the private residence into a revenue-generating business, Trump had to agree to certain limitations, based on guidelines presented as dealbreakers from the Town of Palm Beach. For example, there could be no more than 500 members, there were rules concerning parking and traffic, and club members — Trump included — could not spend more than seven consecutive days at Mar-a-Lago, for no more than three weeks total a year. At the time, following several appearances at town council meetings by Trump and his lawyers to plead his case for approval on the evolution of the property, Trump assented to abiding by the 21-day rule.

However, he has been exceeding that number by staying at Mar-a-Lago far more often while president, and is apparently hoping to make the club his permanent home after he leaves office — something nearby residents in posh Palm Beach are not interested in supporting in a neighborly manner.
