This Is Exactly What the Trump Team Feared

A campaign that had been optimized to beat Joe Biden now must be reinvented.

On the evening of Super Tuesday, March 5, shortly before Donald Trump effectively ended the Republican primary and earned a general-election rematch with President Joe Biden, I asked the co-managers of Trump’s presidential campaign what they feared most about Biden.

“Honestly, it’s less him,” Chris LaCivita told me. “And more—”

“Institutional Democrats,” Susie Wiles said, finishing her partner’s thought.

It was a revealing exchange, and a theme we would revisit frequently. The Democratic Party, Wiles and LaCivita would tell me in conversations over the coming months, was a machine—well organized and well financed, with a record of support from the low-propensity voters who turn out every four years in presidential contests. Ordinarily, they explained, Democrats would have structural superiority in a race like this one. But something was holding the party back: Biden.
LaCivita and Wiles expected the campaign’s narrative to be controlled by Democrats from the beginning: Trump, after all, had sabotaged the peaceful transition of power after the 2020 election, incited an attack on the U.S. Capitol, and, more recently, faced numerous criminal prosecutions and the possibility of jail time. And yet Biden offered an opening. Already the oldest president in American history, he began to show signs of rapid deterioration in 2023. This would make the campaign a game of survival more than skill, each candidate needing to convince voters that he was less disqualified than his opponent.

WASHINGTON, July 22 (Reuters) - U.S. Representative Nancy Pelosi, a former House speaker and influential voice in the Democratic Party, endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris on Monday as the Democratic 2024 presidential nominee.

"My enthusiastic support for Kamala Harris for president is official, personal and political," Pelosi said in a statement. "Politically make no mistake: Kamala Harris as a woman in politics is brilliantly astute - and I have full confidence that she will lead us to victory in November."

Newsom does have some baggage, and two California politicians on the same ticket might not play well. An all female ticket with Whitmer would be interesting, she was an incredibly popular governor of a swing state.
Newsom won't run, at least not for the top spot, and not now. He's already pledged his support for Harris.

If Kamala Harris is the nominee, she is going to lose. All of the wishing, hoping, praying, and voter shaming is not going to change that. Her numbers are lower than Biden's. Like Hillary, her approval tends to drop the more visible she becomes. She's horribly unpopular.

I'm not and never have been a Trump supporter. When I told you Biden needed to go, you laughed me out of the forum.

It just doesn't pay to live in fantasyland. You're already spinning something that will end in disappointment. You already know this.

Tulsi Gabbard ended Kamala's presidential bid in one swift smackdown. She is even more vulnerable. Absolutely nothing has changed.

Get real.
The reason your posts are so useless is because you always want to tell us what the dems are doing is bad, but can't really come up with a realistic alternative. What would you do instead if you were the RNC chair?

I'm quite amazed by the deluge - and speed - of enthusiastic, full-throated support for Harris from the various Democratic arenas. It's almost like they want to win this one.

All Biden did is say I’m not running for a second term and Republicans want to challenge?

Translation: We're so scared we're wetting ourselves. The nerve of Joe to name a black woman in July, before their convention! We whined about Biden's age but that script flipped, now what do we do?!
So let me get this straight:
1. Putting in a new candidate on the leader ticket is grounds for court challenge/fight to the death dismissal BUT
2. Letting in an orange, potty mouth, misogynistic, xenophobic, racist, vengeance-driven, anti-democracy, lady-parts-grabbing dumbrock, flatulent, convicted felon multi-times over is A+ legit!

Okay then! That's some tricky math but who am I? :dizzy::bite::confusedcat:

Elon Musk Accused of Election Interference by Blocking Kamala Harris Followers on X

Following Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign announcement, users on Elon Musk’s platform, X (formerly Twitter), discovered they were unable to follow the vice president’s political campaign account.

Attempts to follow @KamalaHQ, Harris’s official rapid response page, resulted in an error message stating “something went wrong” or that users had reached their follow limit, preventing them from following any more accounts.

Musk responded by posting a screenshot of the error message accompanied by a gloating remark: “Sure did.”

Trying to come up with a few witty-but-not-offensive Italian/Venezuelan jokes. This will require multiple scans.

BRB.
After a fair bit of poking and proding, the best I could get out of chatgpt was:

"I have the Italian fashion sense, but my wardrobe is mostly Carnaval costumes."

=D
