I'm watching some interesting media alchemy taking hold over the last few hours. All the tut-tutting about Biden's age and supposed infirmity has given way to effusive praise for him as an elder statesman. It's great PR as they recount all his governing successes with more enthusiasm than they have since... forever. Fingers crossed that this persists, creating a different perception of his administration (and therefore Harris) in contrast to Trump and the GOP/2025 platform.

Meanwhile, Harris campaign donations for today are up to $30 million? Something like that.

I was pissed, but.... the pro-Harris wave is stronger than I expected and the Dem party seems to be sweeping toward a consensus. This change may have injected a level of enthusiasm into the campaign that wasn't there before, and it has for certain unsettled the Trump camp. They based their VP choice and campaign strategies on belittling Joe Biden -- now, all that saliva-speckled venom has gone to waste.

Trump is far less comfortable facing a woman opponent, not to mention a black woman! Anything that unsettles him -- loss of limelight, change of tactic, uppity females -- is useful.

A number of large donors have come out in support of Harris as well. That was fast, and gives me hope that there will be a smooth transition that allows time to campaign without more infighting among Democrats.
