A bit of factual history: Launch Complex 39 at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida was used for the Apollo lunar missions, then remodeled for the Space Shuttle program, then remodeled again for the SpaceX Falcon 9 (which carried the Crew Dragon capsule on this flight) and the Space Launch System. So hey, you guys remember how when the Trump campaign tried to hold the big traditional inaugural party for Trump, they tried hitting up all these bands and artists and like nobody wanted to play the Trump inauguration, and they ended up having to settle for Ted Nugesnt, and like some garage band from Mississippi or someplace?

The Biden/Harris inauguration would be the party of the freaking century, if it weren't for Covid. Everyone would want to play it. I wonder if they'll end up doing like another one of those Zoom virtual concerts or something to that effect. Either way, I'll watch it.

YUP.... and Sara Palin was sent a cease and desist letter from Heart for using their music.... Republicans basically can't use anything... Ted Nugent is more famous for being super, DUPER conservative than for his music by far. By comparison, I bet Obama has no idea how many artists and poets wanted to perform for him.

I think you underestimate how famous he is for having absolutely zero original musical ideas.

The new administration looks to be getting "Abe Lincoln" away from the Republicans. They will be nominating Antony Blinken for Secretary of State, which can be abbreviated "A. Blinken".

Popular vote lead is now 6.025 million and rising. Big day today as two battleground states are scheduled to certify their elections.

Michigan's elections board just certified their election by a vote of 3 yes, and one abstention for Biden. The one guy who abstained was a Republican Trump-lover who many thought would vote against, but having listened to parts of the meeting, the various election officials demolished pretty much all the points he wanted to push.

For example, he asked the Wayne County (Detroit) guy in charge of this election's staffing why they didn't have 134 republican observers (one per counting table), and the answer was they couldn't find that many people willing to work. LOL. Obviously the story they wanted to push was Democratic favoritism.

The board passed a separate motion to ask their staff and the legislature to work on modernizing the elections process, because absentee ballots grew so much, and there were too many minor errors. They want people in the future to have confidence in the election process. I can't fault them for that.

The certified results now go to the Secretary of State and Governor (both Democrats), and the 16 electors for Biden will be appointed. Trump may still contest things in the courts, but his attempt to stall the certification has failed badly.

Biden-Harris team releases declaration of ethical standards for transition

The transition team for President-elect Biden and Vice-President-elect Harris issued their Code of Ethical Conduct and Ethics Plan today containing the rules that will govern the members of their team during the period until the inauguration.

According to the press release accompanying the guidelines, the plan is designed to “ensure the transition team members are held to clear and enforceable ethics standards.”

“Consistent with Vice President Biden’s long-standing commitment to honest government, the Biden-Harris Code and Plan go beyond the requirements of the Presidential Transition Act,” the press release states.

The contrast with the behavior of the administration of President-reject Donald Trump could not be starker, with the provisions of the ethics rules seemingly written to address the worst ethical abuses that had become an everyday occurrence with the current regime.

While the standards published for the transition will expire and be replaced with a new administration ethics pledge after the inauguration, the five standards published demonstrate a sharp break with the corruption that has dominated a Trump administration that has never met a corporate favor that it wasn’t willing to bend or eliminate the rules for in order to grant, no matter how much it may have harmed the environment or the average American.
