Not sure where else to put this. Just a really moving Biden story. It will be nice to have empathy back.
This touched me deeply but I am not surprised. Good people don't need fanfare or photo ops. Their indelible legacy lives on within the hearts of those they touch.

OMG, you hit upon a rant of mine. Born in the USA is NOT a fucking anthem. Fortunate Son describes a Trump.

That the writers and singers of said songs hate them is nothing to them. They use them without permission and even double down when the artist balks. It is so disrespectful, but what I've come to expect of them.

Regarding taking a gay anthem, are you fucking kidding me? This man and his subordinates plan to take rights away from gay folks. I can't even with that shit.
Waiting for this one to make an appearance if it hasn't already:

I believe Trump is a symptom in many ways, not the cause. Something is deeply flawed in some people’s lives, and perhaps always was, and while Trump empowered and emboldened many, I think he had a lot of fuel to work with and just had to fan it a bit. So what happens to those people?
White America can no longer be allowed to “agree to disagree” or sit complicit. A lot of people (myself included) spent too long thinking human rights were just going to work themselves out or that “look how far we’ve come” somehow matters to those still under the boot. So what happens is we continue to refuse to go back to agreeing to disagree. We keep our lines in the sand. We are not out to be cruel to them, but we will not accept their cruelty toward others. Ever again. And we render them irrelevant.

Thank you, Sal.
Ha ha ha ha, I burst out laughing. I was hoping he'd say something like "Macho Man...by the Village People....you know, the Village People, who's members dressed like gay stereotypes, and were named after the Gay Mecca of NYC.....Republicans are playing this....have they no self awareness?"

I am SO glad you're back posting on VVO.

Why can't Republicans break out a gay pickup anthem every once in a while without it becoming a thing? :bunny:

It's really sad when people do lack the intelligence to get the meaning of a song as clear as "Born in the USA" in their mother language, which is a reckoning with the Vietnam war era and how many veterans returning home were then treated really badly in their home country, got no job, no meaning in life and ended up in prison or likewise bad as part of a merciless war apparatus. It's a song about broken dreams, betrayed and burned people of people being born in the middle of nowhere, who thought that by serving their own country they might bootstrap themself out of their miserable life, but in the end it didn't work because veterans are getting treated like shit.

It seems all it takes is a catchy tune, and the brains start to go bonkers, not listening at all. Just like "Bobby Brown" by Frank Zappa is a catchy tune, if you don't listen enough to the lyrics... some maybe might find that song nice for cuddling around.

Aside that Springsteen dislikes Trump for sure:

Ironically, I think the CNBC crowd is pushing that its PA that will decide this, because my mom argued with me about this last night when I said that if Biden wins FL it is pretty much done.

And I can't say how proud I am of most Georgians, that GA is looking to be a pretty blue-violet right now. Even with the crazy Q-Anon lady running unopposed to be my mom's congresscritter :(

PA is our “must win.” We pay attention to FL because the GOP has no path without it, but PA is our “must win” path.
