Reluctantly
a country's primary election that does not involve her. I mean, how would the folks in the UK feel if I had done something similar in regards to Brexit or Scottish Independence. Or Canadians in their elections.
Loving being a security threat right now. America sneezes and the world catches Coronavirus.

I have voiced my opinion about Trump, Johnson, Bolsonaro and whoever quite loud and often (just not as often on this forum). I don't mind people commenting on German politics or politician, either - if I feel they lack knowledge, I am happy to share. We come from different political cultures. But be assured, watching what is going on in your country and -not- being able to change anything, to vote for anyone, is hard to endure, too. I have never watched the US inner politics so closely like in the past years, I have never really followed the primaries before. I do it now because it is relevant and painful to us, too. We want you to restore your democracy, for your own and the planet's sake. It -does- involve us, and we are grateful for those who fight this fight.
Nobody here is in the position to pressure you into voting for a specific candidate. I believe we are still entitled to voice our opinions and to share our perspectives.
I agree, and I should have emphasized the appreciation and gratitude I feel for global commiseration with our situation. It is touching and welcome. And I especially appreciate how you share how you are affected, because although it is our problem to solve, we are all affected.

But in fact there are those here who consider it their prerogative to pressure Americans to vote for a specific candidate, and not merely to voice opinions. And while not forbidden, it is not helpful.

Furriners might pick better candidates than we do. Maybe not Brits, though :ROFLMAO:

This is a public international board and she has the right to discuss international topics, the us election being one if she chooses so.

Having an opinion that doesn't line up with yours doesn't make her a troll nor does that make it "lobbying".
Seriously and for real -both Ishina and Charlemange are long time posters and as such are welcome to post any damned place that they like.

Your "facts" are actually opinion pieces from people trying to rile up emotions. Some of them are from men who aren't actually democrats, and I'll say again, you aren't a Democrat either. Go on tell me who you voted for in past presidential elections and primaries as an "Independent". That goes for Ishina, Aeon, Anya, and Darnk too. It's a trust thing. You say you can't trust the "sell-out centrists"? Well how do I know that you're not just trolling autistic-libertarian-tech-bros who want to break the system for lulz, like I have seen on Slashdot.

I'll say it again, I like Bernie, but I don't think he has the right temperament for the Presidency. I like Biden too, but I don't think he has the right temperament for the Presidency. IMHO they should have both said, "you know what, if I run it's like I'm trying to make Fetch happen" and decided to not run. As I've said, I'd love to see Bernie as Secretary of Labor and Joe as Secretary of Transportation.

Bernie could say the the things he did because he wasn't an elected official until 1981 and wasn't in Congress till 1991. He didn't have to deal with the political fallout. And even after he was in Congress, he had a safe district/state full of liberal gentrifiers.

A devout Catholic like Joe Biden couldn't say what Bernie did in 74, even if he wanted to, if he wanted to keep his seat. if He did, some NY or Boston Cardinal would have written something saying good catholics shouldn't support Joe Biden.

Me too.

Yeah, Bernie could do that, safe seat, and was an "I", no consequences for him. 1996 was after the Democrats received a drubbing in 1994 with Newt. They were afraid of it happening again so were scared of saying ANYTHING controversial. And Gay Marriage most certainly was to even Democrats in 1996. Remember, Bill Clinton was president because Democrats thought "we need a Less Liberal Southern Democrat, not a scary Super-liberal Damnyankee, to compete in the south for electoral votes" Even don't ask/don't tell was super-controversial at the time. Any Democrat in a competitive seat was going to have a hard time selling that vote to voters, that was the political reality of 1996

Bashing Democrats for pragmatically dealing with that reality is not reasonable

Indeed, and Transgender issues too.

Sanders is aSenator and former congressman from liberal gentrified Vermont, Obama was President of the Entire fucking country. Sanders could say all sorts of things he didn't have to worry about dealing with the fallout from because: Not literally a Democrat, and Vermont. Though he has NOT learned he can't do that running for President. Oh sure, I have no doubt that some of Castro's policies made life better for Cubans, but he could have done those things WITHOUT being Dictator for Life and having secret police. Americans have had decades of anti-commie dialog/media to seep into their brains, Red Dawn! Chuck Norris! Rambo! The Myth and Legend of Reagan. How did Bernie think the general public would react, not even taking into account the "Exiles" in Florida.

How the fuck old are you? Were you a child in 2001? After 9/11 any Democrat who opposed intervention was branded a lover of muslim-terror who hated America and our Military. It would have been a tough vote for ANY Democrat who expected ANY competition for their seat. Bernie of course, didn't have to deal with any fallout, unlike a lot of other Democrats. Can you imagine the political ads that could have been used against Biden if he had voted against it?

Oh you know how certain people on VVO are, Bernie is a Saint who can do no wrong, and every Democrat is a Satan barely better than Trump.
Vermont was still a state with a lot of rural poverty when Sanders became a Senator, and his being an Independent was as much about meeting what was a Republican majority halfway, as it was about anything else.

Vermont was not “gentrified.” What it was, was a northern border state relatively free of evangelicals and Neo-Confederates, and not as overly controlled by conservative Catholics as a place like Maine. Rural, working class and mostly Republican Vermont sent Bernie to the Senate. If these people are Democrats now, it’s because Dominionism is not in their version of Christianity.

Vermont is a state that would fit in better as a Canadian province, than being forced to negotiate with Christofascist Republicans. But it is in no way wealthy enough to be considered “gentrified” outside of a few tourist traps.

Bernie’s pro-worker positions have been the same all along and are completely understandable given a state with rural poverty and outmigration of the young. He’s not an anomaly by himself. So are his home voters.

I don’t understand the fear voting for Biden. It’s one thing if someone really wants him for his policy positions. But voting for him out of fear of “swing states” (including regions that are rural) is just giving up in advance.

I mean the persistent aggressive lobbying type of voicing opinions. And however interested foreigners are, I don’t think anyone but an American can feel the grief and anguish we live with every day. It’s not academic, it is a relentless attack we daily endure, especially the most defenseless among us. It is traumatizing. We are desperate to restore our democracy, desperate for our votes to count for something. We want desperately to get this right. We really don’t benefit from outside spectators telling us how we should vote.
I think you're right. There are other places more appropriate for this dirty Brit to more freely express views on American politicians, and where it wont hurt people to do so. This is obviously not working for either of us.

But that means there will be one less person being serious about the topic to offset the people that only post quasi-related stupid memes o_O

Pamela has been concern trolling for threads now, I wouldn't heed any of it.

Hmmph, Kami was right to use it in that instance, and I was right to use it in this one.

How would you know, you're not an American citizen

Shouldn't that be "whinge"? Too many online Sanders supporters are asshats, even here. And as for you:

Not Your Candidates, Not Your Fight. I consider your participation in this and other threads in regards to the American Presidential Election of 2020, to be the very height of chaos-agent trolling and asshattery. You're not just making general comments about the American political system or asking honest questions. You are actively promoting a single candidate and bashing all the others. You have crossed the line.

WTF is this stay in your lane bullshit.

This isn't the first time you've used men as an insult, but it is the first time I've got the inkling that you think your forum opposition must be men...and mean it as an insult. Lemme know if I'm off-base, 'kay?

Since you are creepily curious, I'll tell you that I am a middle-aged autistic programmer who despises libertarians, programmer culture and gamer culture, fears that tech will enslave us all, in the hands of tech nanny corps who seem to be becoming the hidden hands of the three-letter agencies (I exaggerate, but only a little). I'm a woman of middle eastern descent, a registered democrat, thanks to that damned independent senator from Vermont, in a state that doesn't require registration with any party to vote in their primaries, had never voted in any primaries prior to Obama, and have voted for Democratic presidents since Walter fucking Mondale.

Am I qualified to vote for your fucking team?
