Yeah, I guess this guy didn't grasp that. Or that if you want someone's friendship, you could, oh, I don't know, talk to them first? But not about RL stuff. That's reserved for when you know someone online long enough to know if you even want to say.
I'm not sure I handled the situation well. I prefer to help new SLers, unless they prove themselves to be jerks.
this is what bugs me. are these people human? have they not used the internet before? its like they don't know how to be social. did they live in a basement the entire time and sl is the first thing they have been introduced to?
"Hi, how are you? i'm new Second life and have no idea what i'm doing... Can i add you as a friend?... your Avatar is pretty... can we have sex? "
alot better then
"Hi" ::adds friend:: "Sex now?"
Have anyone in this thread spoke like this when they first started Second life? Asking complete strangers for friendship without talking? not even sl but in any game?
To me this is kinda common sense in most languages to get to know the person first. even from a gamers perspective.. you'd play a few matches with a stranger.. I may not know who the guy i just played Ghost Recon for 4 hours with but good with a virtual gun and we had fun so i added him so we can play again together in the future. I didn't question his age and if i needed help i asked and he told me what to do.
i understand if english is not your first language.. and you may have to use a copy and paste translations... but atleast put some sort of effort into being Coherently social with a few more words and not immediately coming off like a robot who only wants sex.
