British examples, but the satire works anywhere.
Yeah... It's funny, but it is infuriating how many people really believe those stupid counter arguments. American conservatives of course use a lot of the same ones parodied in that article. One other one I see a lot is just trying to label facts they don't like as "liberal" and then they think they are done.

A Reform UK councillor's bid to scrap his authority's climate emergency declaration has been delayed because the chamber was too hot to debate it.

Austen Moore is calling for the Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk to end the climate emergency it declared in 2021 and to instead focus on "practical environment action".

The motion was due to be debated at a full council meeting, external at King's Lynn Town Hall on Thursday.

However, due to the Met Office issuing an amber extreme heat warning and the chamber having no air conditioning, it was deemed unfit.

Most of the time, if they've got nothing to counter your argument, they just accuse you of having TDS and slink away.

TDS and slink away.
Applies to fascists in general:

“Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.”

I hadn't seen that quote before but it's a great way to phrase it. I've often thought about how it is SO MUCH easier to "win" a debate against an honest, modest, sane, intelligent person than a raving lunatic or a troll. All you have to do to win a debate with a good professor is just flood them with crazy claims and accusations and laugh at them as they fall into Brandolini's Law.

Climate change is feeding on itself. The warming effects of greenhouse gases are driving processes that heat up the planet yet further. The one which is exciting—and alarming—scientists most is an unexpected reduction in an obscure but fundamental aspect of Earth: its albedo.

The albedo is the fraction of incoming sunlight that a surface or a planet reflects back whence it came. High albedos, whether they are created by white roofs or ice-covered seas, keep things cool; by contrast, when albedos are low, the incoming energy stays here on Earth, raising the planet’s surface temperatures. Robust satellite measurements of Earth’s albedo have now been taken for over two decades. They show it falling with surprising speed. The oceans, which are responsible for most of the sunshine’s absorption, have been accumulating much more heat as a result.

Earlier today I read about yet another feedback loop that isn't captured by the climate models. Roll this all up into Faster Than Expected TM.
