The first movie was alright but when the trailer for the second one showed my thought process was basically "This looks like Greenland, Greenland is already getting a remake? Oh, its a sequel, people care about Greenland enough to give it a sequel?"

If Congress does vote to explicitly limit action against fellow NATO members (current proposed legislation talks about Greenland without talking about Greenland) would he put tariffs on American goods destined for sale in the US?

Trump says eight European countries face 10% tariff for opposing US control of Greenland

Donald Trump has said he will impose 10% tariffs on Nato countries - including the UK, France, and Germany – who have deployed troops to Greenland amid US threats to take over the Arctic island.

In a lengthy Truth Social post, he said “Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, The United Kingdom, The Netherlands, and Finland have journeyed to Greenland, for purposes unknown”, adding: “This is a very dangerous situation for the Safety, Security, and Survival of our Planet.”
The US president said 10% tariffs will be imposed on all goods the countries export to the United States from 1 February, followed by a 25% rate from 1 June.

“This Tariff will be due and payable until such time as a Deal is reached for the Complete and Total purchase of Greenland,” Trump added.

Haven't we been down this road and his stupid tariffs are all illegal?
The Supreme Court has been holding back their ruling. There is a good chance that whoever is wavering will see a reason to rule against broad tariff authority.

The Guardian: Keir Starmer says Trump’s threat to impose tariffs over Greenland ‘completely wrong’

And for once, the leaders of all the main political parties agree with him, even Nigel Farage (perhaps not so surprising, since Trump is generally despised here no matter what your politics):

The prime minister said on Saturday evening: “Our position on Greenland is very clear – it is part of the Kingdom of Denmark and its future is a matter for the Greenlanders and the Danes.

“We have also made clear that Arctic security matters for the whole of Nato and allies should all do more together to address the threat from Russia across different parts of the Arctic.

“Applying tariffs on allies for pursuing the collective security of Nato allies is completely wrong. We will of course be pursuing this directly with the US administration.”
Opposition politicians also condemned Trump’s threats.

The Conservative leader, Kemi Badenoch, said: “President Trump is completely wrong to announce tariffs on the UK over Greenland.

“These tariffs will be yet another burden for businesses across our country. The sovereignty of Greenland should only be decided by the people of Greenland.”

Ed Davey, leader of the Liberal Democrats, said: “Starmer’s US policy lies in tatters. Trump is now punishing the UK and Nato allies just for doing the right thing.
“Time for the PM to stand firm against the bully in the White House, and work with European and Commonwealth allies to make him back down from this reckless plan.”

The Reform leader, Nigel Farage, said Trump’s Greenland tariffs would “hurt” the UK. He said: “We don’t always agree with the US government and in this case we certainly don’t.”

What does the idiot understand?
How brain death are the Republicans in Congress to let that guy continue?
First, hi, Sid. It's great to see you. Sorry it is under such trying circumstances.

The one -- admittedly rather feeble -- hopeful sign is that Dozy Donnie's popularity ratings are on a rocket sled to hell.

At some point, the Republicans might realize that his fall is inevitable and that he will take everyone with him that he can. At that point, maybe they decide it will be better to be remembered as smelling 90% like shit rather than 100%. At least, maybe enough of them to block his crazier ideas. Some, of course, will be Slim Pickens and ride that nuke all the way to the boom. (And most are probably just hoping he'll have the bad luck to drop extremely dead as soon as possible. Maybe he will.)

I realize that's not much, but these days, we grab any straw we can.

(And yes, that is James Earl Jones on Major Kong's crew.)

Yeah, but nobody with any power and authority has the balls to actually do anything about it.
Yeah... a lot of republicans know there is something VERY wrong with him but are too chicken shit to do anything about it. It's also weird how many people are in complete denial about how bad this is. Even saw one idiot say everyone would be fine with this if a democrat did it.

As pointed out in the video, the phrase "Which Way Greenland Man?" seems to be a reference to neo-Nazi William Gayley Simpson.

NATO can still exist, but only in a different form, because Europe’s security interests do not vanish simply because the United States abandons the alliance or decides the rules-based order is optional. What would change is the structure, leadership, and membership, with a post-American alliance emerging out of necessity and built around a simple recognition that European security cannot be held hostage to a U.S. president who treats allied territory as property.
And let’s be clear, the only one ecstatic about Trump’s imperialism is Russia, which sees every step in this direction as a strategic win. While Europe is forced to prepare for the unthinkable, Moscow is free to intensify its war of extermination in Ukraine, leaving Ukrainians across the country without heat and power in sub-zero temperatures as Russian strikes systematically target critical infrastructure to break the population through cold, fear, and exhaustion. The Kremlin’s goal is to freeze Ukrainians into submission while the West is distracted by the spectacle of an American president threatening to invade an ally.

The European countries that are member of the NATO should form a European Defense Union or something like that, but stay in the NATO at the same time.
That way Trump looses a lot of grip over the European NATO partners IMHO. And then that union could start working to become self sufficient. Develope own weapon systems and when already available buy European. Keep the money needed for defense as much as possible in Europe and no longer shovel it towards the USA big time like in the past decades after WWII.

I think TrumptyDumpty would understand that language.

We should include Canada, too -- they're members of NATO, and as much at threat as is Greenland. I do worry, though, that while we certainly do have to stop relying on the US, which is clearly no longer any sort of reliable ally, it's going to be very expensive, and all those billions of £ and € that governments spend on freeing ourselves from relying on the US are billions of £ and € that they won't be spending on education or health or social welfare or tax cuts. It's going to be a bumpy ride.
