Ukraine's detention of oligarch close to Putin angers Moscow
The detention of fugitive Ukrainian oligarch Viktor Medvedchuk, the former leader of a pro-Russian opposition party and a close associate of Russian leader Vladimir Putin, has been met with enthusiasm in Kyiv and irritation in Moscow.apnews.com
Oh, and what is Putin going to do about it? Declare war on Ukraine?

Wikipedia is already on it....
According to this thread, the reforms after Chechnya and Georgia put in place by Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov were working, but he upset many of the military and industrial elite (who benefited from all the graft and corruption) that they managed, in 2012, to oust him and have him replaced with the current incumbent, General Shoigu, who is far more easy-going.One thing I'm finding interesting is that it was believed that the Russian Military had gone on a major improvement binge after the problems shown in Chechnya and Georgia. They were supposed to have improved their logistics, but something prevented that from happening. Incompetence, grift or a simple lack of resources, that has to stick in Comrade Putins craw.
That was one of Germany's problems in World War II.Well they've got improved weaponry and such, yes. Question though is: how much of it? Most of the shiny new toys are probably not build in big numbers.
But perhaps most unsettling of all (to American viewers) is seeing the mirror images of our QAnon cultists and MAGA true believers reflected in the victims of Putin’s propaganda machine. Much like their unlikely partners here in the States, pro-Putin Russians see the whole war as a faked Western plot to undermine their country, and it’s likely no amount of evidence could ever dissuade them.
I'm -pretty- sure that sunk is past severely damaged.
Well, if you've got a new missile that needs testing, may as well make it a *useful* test.
