Gachas to be banned in Second Life

It's essentially the inability to define a clear black and white law to forbid the behavoir they want.

If they are smart the sniping can be resolved by just making a ton of machines - and making sure you can't reserve more than one at a time.

A ton of machines would ruin predatory abuse of commons, in a 30 piece gacha getting the 5 common matches for your rare dress can be even more tricky than getting the rares.

Heaven forbid copy exchange offers only for full sets you must have pulled yourself. Those scams would be ruined by 20 machines out at an event.

Not sure I follow - having multiple machines doesn't change the prize ratios in circulation. It just makes people be able to use it more often due to new ones having lock-in to avoid sniping. like a website having multiple visitors at once.

But if the one common they needed for the set showed up in one of the queues shoppers would pick that machine. That's on average less pulls they sell on those that go after the full set. So not gonna happen ...

I've been in other games too long. I forgot about shared-experience requirement. You need to show the same item to everyone...

Whoops. Yeah, you can only have one machine. This would all be solved if it were like Valve and everyone sees their own unique next pull.

Oh well, Not-Gachas will be inconvienenced. I will find a small stringed insturment to play.

Ahh, that's how you meant multiple machines. I would have never thought about - how is it called? instancing?

IMHO this will fail with flags flying:

• no sniping mechanics will fail and people will cry bloody murder
• when not failing the no sniping mechanisms will grind events to a halt
• people will camp around the non gacha instead of buying stuff blocking others from entering the gacha sims

just my educated guess but I'll gleefullly slap my "Told you so!" sticker onto everyone whining if any of the above happen.

I immediately thought of all three when the new method was mentioned, and knowing SL I would put money on the bet that all three will happen.

He did that early on in the thread. People did complain but no one did anything. If it got reported, LL is ignoring it.

Do we, after having been in SL for so many years, really believe LL is all about tolerance and all the other love machine woowoo? It was all a smoke screen. Patch got pissed because people questioned his judgement and slammed the door, instead of at least going through the motions of he'll take a closer look.

The magic was sucked out of SL long ago. If LL had just given us the tools to convert prim builds into mesh, instead of forcing people to buy cobbled together "systems" that are priced in the thousands of Ls so that only those with "extra cash" can afford it.

Businesses won't stay in business if customers don't have the money to spend.

Maybe I am just bitter. Or, maybe, just maybe, the future of humanity is that bleak.

When we started in SL things where new and exciting.
Sure, a lot has changed, avatars are nicer, houses prettier, furniture has more bangs for the buck.

But there is nothing really new in SL. No new possibilities, no exciting new fields to explore.
SL is there, it has become part of everydays life for those who stayed.
And as we all know life isn't always exciting, far from that. Same goes for SL.
More a habit than anything else for me.

In direct response to this post referenced above: This game was presented to me directly with an English write up for approval on it's operation design, and I approved it. It is the mechanic of a conveyor belt system, the same I have described in the FAQ.

There was a major new thing in SL 3 months after I joined. For those first 3 months money did not exist in SL.
