Why Are People Behaving So Badly?

Because 45 showed all that

a) such behaviour will make you insanely popular within certain groups of society and people will love and admire you for it
b) it's a good enabler to become US president
c) you can do whatever you want, it will have no long lasting consequences for you.
As cliche as it is to blame 45, I have to agree. I REALLY believed that it was in one's best interest to not behave like an animal till 45 proved otherwise... I kept thinking "Surely his support has to tank after he did THAT."

To put things in perspective, look up Schöneck-Kilianstädten. In times of change, humans get violent. It's just what we do. We are capable of altruism and cooperation, but those are just a few of the social tools that we draw upon as the need arises. Many others are blunt instruments used to bludgeon people, sometimes quite literally.

Not to poke a stick in your bike wheel... I don't. I'm just not a violent person, at all. Sure, I get mad and scream like everyone else. I do not hit or harm anyone. Things might be a different story but that always does more damage to me than the thing so it's pointless and, imo, stupid. Violence only breeds violence.

I think like all social sites, you have to limit those you follow. Of course, you may still get some overflow (I block everything I dislike, from hateful or stupid, to just simply annoying + the word Trump). I don’t care, it’s my timeline) so I’m basically left with funny, sweet, interesting stuff with a sprinkling of everything plant related.

It’s more my go-to when on break or bored during adverts, etc.
Yeah, you are totally right.
I give it another try. Three times is a charm, they say.
I'm redecorating and reorganizing my Twitter feed. And I stopped reading responses to news sites I follow.

I hesitate to purely blame Trump because it seems to be a global problem. Trump didn't cause Brexit, or (directly) cause Putin to go nuts and attack Ukraine, for example.

No, more the other way around. If you look at the evidence Putin was funding Brexit, and the 2016/2020 elections, and iirc, even the failed attempt to take over France with like minded la Pen.

He poured money in the Dutch right wing nutters in parliament too.
One is very silent at the moment, the other one blatantly pro Russia.

So, obviously, there is an clear point of where a lot of the trouble we have, at least in the 'western' world, comes from.

‘It’s me on camera eating stuff without paying’: Dollar General worker leaves when manager said she wanted to show him something, sparking debate (msn.com)

“Soon as I clocked in the manager said she wanted to show me something on the cameras so I left,” writes Jordan in the text overlaying the video. “I know it’s me on camera eating stuff without paying.”

In comments, users shared their thoughts on taking food from the workplace without paying.

“[I don’t] know why jobs think we care,” wrote one user. “Imma eat something.”

“Employees should get at least one free meal a shift,” added another.

More TikTokers chimed in to tell their stories about getting free eats on the job—legally or otherwise.

“As a former meat guy I use[d] to eat the lunchables and hide,” commented a user.

“Wendy's for me and I didn't care,” said another. “I would eat whatever I wanted whenever I wanted.”

“When electronics are returned to Walmart the employees take them and write it up as a loss,” claimed a further commenter. “Eat your bag of chips it’s ok.”

“When I worked at McDonald’s I stole so much mfing food,” stated a fourth. “Had to be in the thousands of dollars.”

I remember when restrictions started coming in for our free meals, when I worked at LJS [no more boiled shrimp :(

But when I worked at a convenience store, we just had to write down what we took for food, so they knew for stocking/inventory.

Of course they've gotten greedier since then. o_O

You weren't out right stealing though, assuming "they" in that last sentence means the employees who ate the food without paying for it when they knew it wasn't free to them. Employees do get discounts.

None of the restaurants or other food service places I've worked at ever allowed the employees to eat for free. We got discounts. Not that the discounts really amounted to much. That covers about the last 50 years.

On the other hand, no more free boiled shrimp is an outrage!

Maybe it was a regional thing - like I worked at a steak place and for a little while, we got a free steak dinner with the buffet if we wanted it - but completely rubbish pay and hours. I expect it was cheaper to feed us than to pay us. [And turned out the owner was embezzling so...]

Same with most places I worked at, except for the embezzling - it was cheaper to feed us then to pay us well.
