One can only imagine how bitter [Larry Summers] must be feeling about the variance in fortunes of the men – and occasional woman – with known connections to Epstein. Of this list, two are dead (Marvin Minsky and Jean-Luc Brunel), one is in jail (Ghislaine Maxwell) and one has lost his house, his title and his invitation to the family Christmas (Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor). But for the rest of the prominent associates, email correspondents, birthday-card signatories, grant recipients and dinner companions of the late convicted child sex trafficker – all of whom insist that, while in Epstein’s orbit, they remained in total ignorance as to the man’s true nature – the cancellation fairy’s aim has been predictably inconsistent and wide.

f you started cancelling everyone who remained in contact with Epstein after 2008 – when he pleaded guilty to soliciting sex from a minor – you would be left with a US in which the only people you could book on a conference panel would be Melinda Gates, Dick Van Dyke and Madonna (I would be strongly in favour of this). In fact, given the apparently irresistible reach of the convicted sex offender, it might be quicker to list prominent people who didn’t go to dinner or exchange convivial bon mots over email with him than to trudge through the long list of those who did.

NY Times columnist who wrote ‘count me out’ of Epstein story last month featured in latest Epstein photo dump | The Independent

New York Times columnist David Brooks was featured in the latest tranche of photographs from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate – one month after Brooks wrote a column dismissing the obsession over the Epstein files.

In a series of photographs from an event with the deceased sexual predator, which were made public Thursday, Brooks could be seen smiling directly at the camera while having drinks and eating dinner with other guests.

However, this dinner was not mentioned in a column Brooks wrote last month in which the conservative writer groused about the amount of political oxygen the Epstein case had taken up in Washington, especially among Democrats.

I think that's the point, though -- so many of the rich and famous were associated with him that it's very hard to escape the conclusion that none of them really cared, or cares now. How many Hollywood executives other than Harvey Weinstein have faced legal consequences as a result of the #MeToo movement? I find it difficult to believe Weinstein was the only one who abused his position in this way.

DOJ won’t meet Friday deadline to release all the Epstein files

The Department of Justice will not be releasing all of its files on convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein by Friday’s deadline, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said Friday morning.

In an interview with Fox News, Blanche said the department would “release several hundred thousand documents today.”

But he acknowledged Friday’s release would not encompass all of the DOJ’s documents for the investigation into the late financier.

“I expect that we’re going to release more documents over the next couple of weeks, so today several hundred thousand and then over the next couple weeks, I expect several hundred thousand more,” Blanche said. “There’s a lot of eyes looking at these and we want to make sure that when we do produce the materials we are producing, that we are protecting every single victim.”

The delay means the White House is in apparent conflict with a law President Donald Trump signed in November that mandated the wholesale release of all of its non-exempt Epstein information within a 30-day period.

So basically, President Trump is in violation of a law he himself has signed. I'm sure there's some sort of award for that.

The DOJ did a partial release on the Epstein files. Some documents are withheld by citing ongoing investigations or national security concerns, so will like re-gnite the furor over them.

‘An Absolute Joke’: Trump DOJ Partially Releases Epstein Files, Many Heavily Redacted

According to one talking head, most of the hundreds of thousands of files released were in the form of individual PDFs with no indexes or cataloguing.

The US Department of Justice on Friday released a massive—but incomplete—trove containing hundreds of thousands of records related to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, a move that came as Democratic lawmakers vowed to pursue “all legal options” after the Trump administration blew a deadline to disclose all of the files.

The DOJ uploaded the files—which can be viewed here in the section titled “Epstein Files Transparency Act”—to its website on Friday. Earlier in the day, Deputy US Attorney General Todd Blanche said that the agency would not release all the Epstein files on Friday, as required by the transparency law signed last month by President Donald Trump.

At least 16 files disappeared from the Justice Department’s public webpage for documents related to Jeffrey Epstein — including a photograph showing President Donald Trump — less than a day after they were posted, with no explanation from the government and no notice to the public.

The missing files, which were available Friday and no longer accessible by Saturday, included images of paintings depicting nude women, and one showing a series of photographs along a credenza and in drawers. In that image, inside a drawer among other photos, was a photograph of Trump, alongside Epstein, Melania Trump and Epstein’s longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell.

The Justice Department did not say why the files were removed or whether their disappearance was intentional. A spokesperson for the department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
