The Guardian: Group of Epstein abuse survivors say they have received death threats

“Thanks to brave supporters in Congress and in the public, we have won one victory, the passage of the bill to release the Epstein files. But we know the battle is far from over,” said the statement signed by 18 named survivors and 10 Jane Does.

The statement said the women were braced for attempts to blame the victims for their own or each other’s abuse, incomplete disclosures, efforts to pull the survivors apart and threats to their physical safety.

“Many of us have already received death threats and other threats of harm. We are bracing for these to escalate. We ask every federal and state law enforcement agency that has jurisdiction over these threats to investigate them and protect us,” the statement said.

Using Jmail, you can read thousands of Jeffrey Epstein’s emails in a familiar format. Use the star function to highlight notable finds.

[T]he House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform released 20,000 documents from the estate of registered sex offender and disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein. They included thousands of emails sent between Epstein and high-profile people like Epstein confidant Ghislaine Maxwell, political strategist Steve Bannon, journalist Michael Wolff, and former US treasury secretary Larry Summers, as well as revealing text messages. Many of them allude or directly refer to president Donald Trump.

Now, you can browse all those emails just like you would on your own Gmail account.

Jmail is a website that looks very much like Gmail, except that there is a little hat hanging on the logo and that the profile picture in the top right corner is a grinning Epstein. (Click on it and it says “Hi Jeffrey!”) The inbox lets you click through thousands of emails, formatted to look exactly like a regular message would in your inbox. In the sidebar, you can sort by Inbox, Starred, and Sent. In Gmail, a lower sidebar section reads Labels and separates emails by category. In Jmail, it is a list of people who corresponded with Epstein.

How long does it take to qualify as a dentist in the US? I ask because in the UK it's around 5 to 7 years (university degree plus postgraduate training) and I'm not sure I would describe someone in her mid- to late 20s as a "girl."

You need a bachelors degree (so, 4 years), and 4 years at a dental school.

Licensing is handled at the state level, but you first have to pass a national board examination.

(Note: I once dated someone who worked in dentistry. And yes, the stories people tell are true.)

Florida judge orders release of grand jury files from 2007 Epstein investigation

Nearly 20 years after Jeffrey Epstein got a sweetheart deal in Florida, a Fort Lauderdale federal judge has ordered the release of grand jury materials from the 2007 investigation into the deceased sex trafficker’s crimes.

It’s not clear when the records will be made public since the Justice Department likely has to redact the names of victims and other private identifying information before unsealing them. They were not unsealed on Friday.

The Florida grand jury files are a small subset of the Epstein files gathered by the DOJ between 2007 and 2019. The Florida records pertain to the crimes Epstein was investigated for in Palm Beach between 2005 and 2007. The Florida grand jury investigation never led to a federal indictment because federal prosecutors gave Epstein immunity for his crimes, a fateful decision that has led to questions about a possible cover-up.

The grand jury files, however, could provide a new window into how thoroughly Epstein’s crimes were investigated by the FBI and prosecutors for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of Florida.
