I'm seeing some for under $100 (like 3 on amazon, yikes) but point taken -it's absolute bullshit, and shows no sign of ending.

So, I've gone back to just hanging out with my RL spouse in SL on assorted alts we have. One of mine right now is me as a demon - weird enough to make -me- but eh, was working through some issues in my past.

And my malt from before last names went away got a serious make over - but no one makes clothes for the Slin Homme chest, so.... hrm

That's no problem. The rig I'm talking about is 6yo. The only thing I swapped out since is the GPU and replaced the SSD after I broke the 1st one trying to water cool it. (^_^)y
In case you forgot, I did build and sell white boxes successfully before Katrina.

My concern isn't the age of the tower but the availability and affordability of parts for it.

I found the Legacy store confusing; where are the demos?

Then I went to a Bay City anniversary celebration and saw MM, Lexi , Dakota and ... um ...arggg I wish I could remember peoples names better!

Next I was invited to a RFL camp but couldn't stay. Finally I stopped in for a few minutes at Club Noir and said Hello to Lewis Madison and Stora! By then my eyes hurt and I logged out :)

Memory working again ! Evola ;)

EDIT: heh. I tried to post a picture. I have no idea what I posted. A slideshow?

Every few weeks I can't sleep and I log on and wander around looking for interesting things to look at or dancing at a club that's playing something I like and then I get sleepy and go to bed.

Can you tell me or give me a link on where you found the Blender for SL class? I REALLY need some help using it and most of the things I find are no specific to SL.
The best place to start is to get Avastar, read the documentation and check out their excellent Discord channel. It's something you will need if you want to animate or make clothes for SL.

If you are interested in more general videos about blender... this might be a controversial link, but...

Honestly, the best videos I've found for how to make things for SL in Blender are from the Mighty Ginkgo YouTube channel. The videos are great, but I have to give one big, massive warning...

PIRACY IS BAD! DO NOT PIRATE THINGS WITH THE VIEWERS THEY USE ON THE MIGHTY GINKGO YOUTUBE CHANNEL!

The Mighty Ginkgo channel is not all about piracy at all, but they do pirate some things on it, and use things like bootleg dev kits. Don't do that, because piracy is wrong! You should simply accept that dev kits to make clothes for your nice, expensive mesh avatar are unobtainium (this goes double for anybody in male avatars). We have to respect the IP of the hard working folks at Maitreya, TMP, Belleza, etc. In other words, we need to just stick to making furniture and architecture. Leave clothing to the politically connected and those wealthy enough to be able to afford to go to art school. Dev kits are tightly controlled, because it is important that all mesh clothing meets only the strictest standards of mesh body creators. That's why you never, ever see bad mesh clothing in SL. It's because the mesh body creators have such great taste, they stop all bad clothing makers from ruining SecondLife with ugly things, by deciding who does and who does not get legitimate dev kits. Remember, only the body creators may be the arbiters of what is possible, not the uneducated, unrefined rabble like you and me. We should know our place and not make clothes, because piracy is bad.

So, anyway, with that caveat... those are the best resources I've found for learning how to make stuff for SL in Blender.

Thank you , this is great advice and gives me a starting point. FWIW, I would never pirate anything (knowingly anyway). All I want to learn how to make are trees and animals and sea creatures. I have made a lot of those that are non-mesh and just want to up my game a bit.

Belleza's kit was as easy as requesting it - same with slink.

Just saying.

Yeah but that requires talking to someone. You know what doesn't require talking? Piracy.

That's awesome! I'll give it a try and update my no application dev kit list if it's that easy. It's been a while, that list probably needs an update anyway.

Well, I supposed technically you apply for it, but even my barely make much of anything self got approved pretty easily. And no having to pay for it or anything.

Same with Slink - I applied for it, but it wasn't like jumping through hoops or anything, and no fee or anything.

Neither are as easy as getting the kit for say the Kemono or some of the other non-human devkits, but not as hard as I've heard it is to get Legacy or Maitreya, either.

I guess I'm back in SL? At least when I'm not helping RL bestie.

Like I said -I've moved to Belliseria ...and I've discovered that I can swap out houses using the mailbox (yay! no switching out parcels yay!). I've picked new house with a better (less cramped) layout and moved things around (and yes -I'm still very, very much on my Ghost kick 😜):

Also, I'm taking advantage of (griefer) free sandboxes and setting up a workspace for a Neufreistadt building project in Sandbox Artifex, and backing it up to OXP for easy re-rezzing:

Of course, reading folks picks' and follow them -with amusing (and useful!) results (nsfw):

Literally an invaluable public service LOL

Welcome to the neighborhood, don't forget to check your mailbox for some extra building textures and other assorted nickknacks. I have no idea how many uses I've found for the concrete materials I got in my packin box from my original Traditional.

TY! I actually learned about this in the residents group this afternoon. That's also how I discovered that I could swap around houses, too.

Good, good stuff -especially compared to the old Linden homes.
