I made my homemade mac and cheese. A new recipe. I put panko bread crumbs fried in butter on the top. Unfortunately the last part of the recipe calls for the dish to be put under the broiler for two minutes. The breading caught fire. I had to blow it out. It's still pretty good but I'll be scraping off parts where it is too black.

Did you check local bakeries as well as donut shops? You may not care for them, but Krispee Kreme has had them. I think Dunkin Donuts, too.
I often visit my locals. I love discovering bakery items I've not come across before, and spend a lot of time visiting the small and regional shops in my area.

No Krispy Kremes anywhere near my part of the Northeast corridor. And the Dunkins around me (and there are a lot of them!) do not tend to spread the donut choices that far into the exotic. I consider myself lucky they don't mind pushing Boston Creams!

Oh, I could try hitting up the little Donut Love up the road. I think a few of their donut styles are based on suggestions from customers (their Boston Cream is better than Dunkin's, too).

We have several mom-and-pop donut shops here that beat the crap out of the big chains. But I haven't seen one anywhere offer a creme brulee donut before.

I bet if someone asked, and enough people liked them, they'd make them a regular menu item, so to speak. The only barrier might be the price of some ingredients.

ETA: Maybe a seasonal type thing?

Katheryne Helendale reminded of sauerkraut in one of her posts. I got this kielbasa and sauerkraut sandwich from a local deli which is so good. My cheap camera doesn't do it justice.

Also I've been craving a read from Haruki Murakami. I lost most of my books in a move about 8 years ago but looked upstairs and tada! Here is his book Kafka on the Shore to read.
