When I was young I liked eating the fat off a steak. I liked it so much my mother and father would sometimes cut the fat off their steaks and dump it in my dish.

The last 20 years I haven't really eaten steak more than a few times, so I'm not sure if I'm as into the fat as I once was.
The melt-in-your-mouth kind, or the chewy un-breakable kind?

I was really mad at myself this for missing my occasional "McDonald's big breakfast with hotcakes" breakfast. I have it maybe once a month when I reallyreallyreallyneedpancakesNOWurgently.

Heh. I was like that, as well. I also always insisted upon eating any extra crisp skin from either chicken or turkey. Everyone would give it to me.

I like my steaks medium or even better saignant (a French style somewhere between medium and rare) with little fat to be honest.
A good steak has just enough fat to melt away during the baking process to keep the meat tender and juicy.

CABs (Carne Asada Burrito: marinated diced steak, guacamole, pico de gallo/salsa fresca... that's it. MmmmMMM!)

Trader Joe's Vegan Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

Spicey Peanut Satay Noodles. Which I can't find freaking anywhere since the pandemic started. =(

Bagels with smoked salmon, humus, onions, capers and olive tapenade.

^^^ can also put on the fishes ^^^

also, as Soen put McD on the table, when I have to be on the road all day and night, the meal will be a double cheeseburger, those fabulously greasy salty fries, and their truly brewed and generally fresh tea.

Local place makes the most amazing fall-off-the-bone grilled chicken in a thick, sticky black sauce, spiced Arab-style fried rice & a local soup with roasted beef (Ayam bakar, nasi goreng kebuli, soto Betawli).

It's cheap & delicious, our go-to order on payday & whenever we're too busy to cook. As we're not close to the resto, order too often, or are easy to find, I always send them a pic of the house.

Last time I ordered, they replied with the polite version of "WE KNOW!"

I LOVE nasi goreng but haven't made it in a really, really long time (now I have a craving and had to order Kecap Manis on Amazon). After reading this, I'm also craving Gado Gado for some reason. When I was a kid my Mom dated an Indonesian chef - best six months of my life when it came to eating really great food! I really wish she had married that guy.

My son misses the food here the most & he is a passable cook of Indonesian food now living in the US.

I made spicy egg noodles with tahini satay sauce tonight, kecup manis really does make a difference.

Give me a good marbled grilled steak anytime!

My personal guilty pleasures? Anything potato. And anything cheese. And if you combine the two, it's almost orgasmic!
