I'll be voting later this afternoon after classes. I will be voting straight Democrat down the ballot. I don't usually vote strictly along party lines, but that's how much the Republican Party has disgusted me.

There was a race on my ballot for a school board seat, where the only two candidates were both Republicans. I chose not to cast any vote in that contest.

I did actually vote for a republican candidate when that was my only option; but I looked at both of the candidates and one sounded amazingly like a progressive. Funny thing about our local politics; even normal, sane people run as republicans, because that's how people identify here.

I have been programming for about 40 years now since I started before HS. Most kids spend time outside principal's offices .... mine was outside system manager's offices (often with the result of 'never tell ANYONE how you just did that'). My local network has a couple dozen devices on it. A beta OS? FUN!!! Should I go on? Basically get the definition of computer geek and turn it to 11.

Time to vote? Hand me the paper and pen please. I know how easy it is to break computer 'security' just by accident, to say nothing of if you wanted to.

"League of Pissed Off Voters".... I hadn't heard of them before, but I like it!

I had been leaning toward a yes on 10, but the possibility of it reducing availability of rental properties (which are already in short supply here) gave me pause. I'm on my way to vote now, and I'm voting yes on 10.

Actually, while it may seem bizarre you can deduce a lot based on where that 2% is from compared to previous polling.

Still, you can't be sure enough to predict the outcome based on such a small sample. I have a feeling this election holds a lot of surprises.

Well, 2% is not always small. You do not know the other 98% of the vote with 100.000000000% certainty most of the time but you can get a pretty good confidence from it.

It's not about the counted votes so far. Or at least, it's not JUST that.

It's also about all the opinion polling and poll sampling.

It's also about historic trends in the various districts.

It's also about an evaluation of the percentages in each district a candidate needs to win, and the likelihood of the candidate reaching those percentages.

It's also about exit polls. In fact, it's mostly about exit polling.

Closing things up with just 2% of all votes counted feels strange. It's frankly not strange at all.

Well, I voted. I actually got to the polling place at a pretty good time, because there was a hell of a line there as I left. Now to sit and wait for the results. One of my biggest hopes is Andrew Janz defeating Devin Nunes. That would make me happy. It would certainly piss off a lot of people here in this Republican-heavy district.
