CBC, a Canadian Broadcaster, has had quite interesting coverage on the results tonight. As a Canadian I do resonate with the outsider view even if I do flip to CNN or NBC as they are more entertaining and energized about it.

One interesting observation made on CBC is that more people voted for Trump in 2020 than did in 2016. In spite of everything we’ve seen him do, more Americans support him knowing what kind of President he’s been.
I have lost faith in humanity. At 7 AM local time, we're down to counting the last mail ballots in PA, GA, MI, NC and a few other states. Trump should not be this close to re-election. We're talking about a mentally ill, incompetent, ill-informed circus barker and the American people haven't already pushed him out of office with a resounding voice?! They actually believed the Fox and OAN lies about "what a good job" he's done, despite a quarter of a million dead? Do they expect him to suddenly grow a brain and cure the virus? Or grow a heart and uncage the children at the border? WHAT HAS TRUMP ACTUALLY DONE to earn these vote?!

Nothing. He did nothing. He found the people who are either too stupid to read or too afraid of "socialism" to ever vote for a Democrat. The same people I hear all around me here who cannot comprehend how their lives will NOT be made better by this incompetent clown.

The only thing that salves my hurt right now is that Biden still has a narrow path, which is why Trump is already claiming victory and insisting that the counting stop prematurely. But the Senate on the verge of remaining the same McConnell shitshow it's been for four years already.

I give up. There goes our chance to rebalance the court, undo the damage he's done and restore the ACA. We're standing on a dark precipice and losing our balance. I'm sick to my stomach over how utterly WRONG this all is to me, how my country has lost its integrity and respect.

We don't have the final Doctor's report yet, but he's standing in front of the family shaking his head.

The Uncanniness of Watching Donald Trump Claim Premature Victory

“We were getting ready to win this election,” Trump declared near the end of this speech. “Frankly we did win this election.”

He then promised that “we are going to the U.S. Supreme Court” to fight out the election, without articulating exactly what he meant. “We want all of voting to stop,” he said. “We don’t want them to find any ballots at four o’clock in the morning and add them to the list.” And he repeated: “We will win this. And as far as I’m concerned, we already have won it.”

My spouse loves that I care so much, and hates it because its destroying my health... he also pointed out that Florida is Florida man and I shouldn't be surprised.

At this point, I'm so tempted to vote for anyone I don't want to win - since it seems like lately, every single last person I've voted for has lost. Except that would backfire.

From what I'm seeing, it looks like Biden will pull this out, but the fact remains that we seriously underestimate just how racist the US is in ALL parts of the country. Great strides have been made, but the backlash from electing a black man as president twice is going to keep this country torn apart for a long, long time. Our educational system is a huge part of that problem, and not one that will be easy or fast to fix.

As my spouse says, Floridians seem addicted to electing whoever the incumbant is, regardless of party. Since he's a native AND has the political science background, I have to accept that....

Truly, I find that horrifying. Even though I have a home that my husband and I have dreamed we'd have for years, I'm contemplating leaving the country. Seriously.

A pollster on 538 said early yesterday that of 2000 numbers he called, only 3 answered all the questions.

No one's responding, including me (bad personal polling history).

I've always answered questions when called by pollsters, but there have been times when I eventually cut them off because they ASK TOO DAMN MANY DUMB QUESTIONS. I'd hope they can use the first questions they ask even if you don't answer them all... usually the presidential vote is their first question. They should use this data even if I didn't get around to telling them my favorite African Reptile.

Twitter? Try a speech. From a section in https://edition.cnn.com/politics/live-news/election-results-and-news-11-03-20/index.html

Just let that go through your head. He declared himself victor and wants further voting to stop.
It's so absurd, it's just beyond all my evens.
Yeah, I wrote that post before he gave his speech. Before that, I warned about the red mirage.

I am not really too shocked by anything that's happening so far. Except maybe Michigan, even though they are still counting out there. Michael Moore warned that Trump will carry Michigan. He was right about Trump's victory in 2016. He still might be right about 2020, but if he is, it's gonna be very close

I saw a lot of people who normally would have voted Democrat saying they held their noses and voted Trump - and why, but I'm not going to say because I don't want to get dog piled.
LOL, you are smarter than I am. I probably should hold my tounge more around here.

I suspect some of those vote machines were indeed connected to the internet, and were hacked just enough to change vote Totals.

I don't understand -- if I tell you that, with a 6-sided die, you have a one in three chance of rolling < 3, and you take the die a roll a 1 or a 2, then what do you conclude from that?
I mean if we're ready to admit that a "polling analyst" can say "the data gives us a 99% chance Purple wins!" and Green ends up winning in an absolute landslide and our analyst is able to say "Actually my analysis was completely right because it recognized that Green had a non-zero chance of winning" then what I conclude from that is that "poll analysis" like this is stupid and worse than useless for any purpose beyond rhetorical, and that it shouldn't get the airtime we give it.

I never ever answer questions from pollsters on the phone. It can be God knows on that phone. It could be any nosy neighbor, prankster or even a burglar checking out if your neighborhood is loaded enough to visit.
Only time I do participate is when they call first, tell me who they do the research for, make an appointment and then show up at my doorstep with a proper ID and company ID.
So far I only participated three times. Two times for the EU council, once for the Dutch government.

As has been stated before in some thread:
US politics in general has become such a competitive, Us-VS-Them, Team-VS-Team, Army-VS-Army sport/battle/competition/totalwar that it does not matter if your side is doing good things or not. It does not matter that Trump is incompetent or a liar or whatever.

And I dare say this would also go the other way around: If the Republicans had put up a wonderful and competent candidate with a sane plan and political brilliance - you'd find most Democrats still not suddenly voting Republican, even if their own candidate was horrible. Simply because "You don't vote Rep"

It's not about winning.
All that matters to most is that the other side loses.

Can we change the title of this thread to US Election WEEK 2020?
Here's another idea: void gerrymandering and pass Federal laws that allow states to begin counting mail-in ballots before Election Day. Give them the funds to upgrade their equipment and processes. Streamline it.

The Repubs would never go for it because when more people vote, their odds diminish but for godsake, voting should be the #1 easiest and most convenient act a citizen can take.
