Pursued by federal agents, suburban ICE observers remain resolved

Just ordinary people. Braver than many politicians and local police.
I wish more would understand how stronger we could be when acting in solidarity.

GREAT comment. Closely related, I see every lady activist with a big public profile picked apart for not being a perfect person. Meanwhile, male right wingers can be literal rapists with no lasting consequences.

Financial Times: US embassy in London denies visas to executives over minor offences (Evernote link because paywall)

The US embassy in London is preventing top-level business executives from travelling to America over minor criminal offences, as Donald Trump’s clampdown on immigration extends to the UK.

People looking to travel to the US on tourist and business visas who have police cautions or petty offences on their records — some dating back as far as the 1970s — are frequently being turned down, according to immigration lawyers and visa consultants.
Lawyers said tech and C-suite executives were among those to have had visas denied apparently on the basis of comparatively minor historic offences such as cannabis use, bar fights and driving under the influence of alcohol, in a sign of how far-reaching the US anti-immigration drive has become. Some of those denied visas had arrests on their records but not conviction

Kidney recipient detained by ICE still hasn't received life-saving medications

Four days after ICE arrested a Rochester man who is the recipient of a kidney transplant, federal authorities still have not given him the life-saving medications he needs to prevent his body from rejecting the donated kidney, according to the man’s wife.

The Department of Homeland Security said late Friday that ICE is aware of the man’s recent kidney transplant, that the family gave authorities the medications and that ICE was working to ensure he gets them, but he apparently still has not received them.

How are they doing that, hmm? Almost exclusively made up names unless Conde Nast is sharing phone numbers or email addresses or stuff.
They don't seem to be going after Reddit user Budget-Chicken-2425's actual name and address, or at least not yet, but they have apparently prepared a detailed dossier and analysis of all that user's Reddit activity, including subReddits that have nothing to do with politics (Stephen King books, 1970s TV shows, etc).

This is a bit different than our regular posts, but a lot of people have been reaching out to our team asking what many of us are asking ourselves: “What can I do?” The whole purpose behind Project Salt Box is to find data from publicly available sources (e.g. government contracts, FOIA libraries, local records, etc.) and use that data for good. As an example, we created the ICE Warehouse Tracker that folks have been using nationwide to pressure local governments and business owners into backing out of/stopping the proposed warehouse purchases for detention centers.

A trove of evidence was released Tuesday in the controversial shooting of Marimar Martínez by an immigration agent at the height of Operation Midway Blitz, including body-worn camera footage showing the tense moments just before their vehicles collided and an email sent later that day by Border Patrol Cmdr. Gregory Bovino praising the agent’s conduct.

“It’s time to get aggressive and get the (expletive) out,” one agent says on a bodycam video as horns blare on Kedzie Avenue in Brighton Park, where Martínez had been following the agents through the neighborhood on the morning of Oct. 4, according to the material released by the U.S. attorney’s office.
Seconds later, the driver, Border Patrol Agent Charles Exum, appears to jerk the steering wheel to the left, in the direction of Martínez’s vehicle alongside them. The video jolts, apparently capturing the collision between the agents’ Chevrolet Tahoe and Martínez’s car.

“Be advised we have been struck!” one of the agents in the vehicle yells to a dispatcher. Exum then gets out of the vehicle and moves off-camera and five rapid-succession gunshots are heard.
