The indictment against him alleges conspiracy, which I'd have thought must mean that the prosecutors have to prove he knowingly agreed to do something unlawful, and the details of the indictment outline a knowing agreement with other conspirators to smuggle people into the US, and to smuggle them and weaposn around the US.

Trump had signed a memo late Saturday night ordering the national guard deployment.
The memo asserts that the demonstrations impeded “execution of laws” and therefore “constitute a form of rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States”.

Trump is doing everything he can to make sure this escalates to violence and death.

I think most of the reports I've seen are calling them "less lethal" for that very reason.

During "the troubles" in NI 17 people were killed by baton rounds (rubber or plastic bullets). Eight of them were children.

YEP, it's very hard to incapacitate a person without any real risk of death. Tasers have also killed a lot of people. So has tear gas. Clean, safe knockouts only exist in movies and video games.

This also makes me think of how tranq darts are shown in movies as being so clean and safe and no such thing really exists.

As I understand it from people who served in NI, you are (or were with the designs back then) supposed to shoot them at the ground in front of protesters so they ricochet upwards and hit people on the legs and lower body with considerably less force than they would if aimed directly but still hard enough to cause considerable discomfort so the crowd would retreat.

Soldiers and RUC members didn't always follow procedure, though, and even when they did, the ricochet could easily hit someone on the head, sometimes with fatal results.

I sadly remember the deaths from their use in NI. The one I held, brought back by a friend's father who served there, was very large and heavy, would have bounced up high from hitting the road, I think.
