Which is probably why his anti-immigrant stuff has not gone down well with quite a few people. Most of us grew up hearing stories of ancestors coming to america even if it is not a case of something that happened in the recent past.

My parents were immigrants. They brought 18 month-old me along with them. So I'm a naturalized citizen too. Most of my parent's friends were immigrants too. That's just the way we rolled in New York City in the 1960's. So far as I know, that's still how NYC is, although *where* people come from has changed over time.

When I was a kid it was not unusual for some of the older town residents to speak better Finnish than english. The mixture of what countries people come from has spread out over time but there are still some people there with Finnish roots.

Someone really needs to tell them that is not how government funding works. Or maybe if they think otherwise this means the Ds do not have to vote $$ for the wall now.

I am not good at basic arithmetic but it looks to me if the Base raises a million dollars a day every day, it will only take them something like 13.7 years to raise $5 billion.

That 'wall' looks like one that mules could just hand kilos of drugs through to someone waiting on the other side.

If the posts are close enough to keep someone from squeeing through, all it's gonna take is a belt for a harness and two cut strips of auto tire duct-taped to some boots as slip-brakes and even I would be able to climb over that 'wall'.

Donald Trump has defended construction of a wall along the US-Mexico border in a bizarre series of tweets in which he compared it to "the wheel" and boasted he understood technology "better than anyone".

"The Democrats are trying to belittle the concept of a Wall, calling it old fashioned," Mr Trump wrote. "The fact is there is nothing else’s (sic) that will work, and that has been true for thousands of years. It’s like the wheel, there is nothing better.

"I know tech better than anyone, & technology on a Border is only effective in conjunction with a Wall. Properly designed and built Walls work, and the Democrats are lying when they say they don’t.

"In Israel the Wall is 99.9% successful. Will not be any different on our Southern Border! Hundreds of $Billions saved!"
