Apparently a lot of people never buy into the weird bone bending stuff and go the osteo route because it's easier or cheaper.
Maybe. I've been watching people defend osteopathic doctors for the last few days on social media, and when people who describe themselves as patients talk about how much better than MDs their DOs are, I see the word "holistic" being used an awful awful lot. Holistic just means "whole body". but it's one of those innocent-sounding terms that happens to be a buzzword for junk medicine - like "quantum", "natural", and "energy"; and I can't speak for every time it's used, but the few times I've seen someone elaborate, it turns out that "holistic" tends to mean that in addition to regular medicine the doctor likes to refer them to like acupuncturists and homeopaths.

Oh yes, if they actually believe in that stuff, lose them.

Trump might have actualy voided that state with the Rose Garden paving...
There are several categories where the White House qualifies for the National Register of Historic Places. The categories for individual properties include:
  • Criterion A, "Event", the property must make a contribution to the major pattern of American history.
  • Criterion B, "Person", is associated with significant people of the American past.
  • Criterion C, "Design/Construction", concerns the distinctive characteristics of the building by its architecture and construction, including having great artistic value or being the work of a master.
  • Criterion D, "Information potential", is satisfied if the property has yielded or may be likely to yield information important to prehistory or history.
Changes to the landscaping do not change eligibility under any of these. I am pretty sure that the property fits all 4 categories, given the length of continuous occupation.

Not sure which thread to put this in, since Trump seems to be swallowing them all like some great orange and fevered vortex, but...

It occurs to me that, if Trump doesn't manage to throw off the infection before it moves to the next phase, then he'll almost certainly have be put on a ventilator, at which point the 25th Amendment has to come into force -- even if Trump hasn't signed anything, nevertheless, as I understand it, the VP and a majority of the cabinet simply need to certify to the President pro tempore of the Senate that Trump is incapable of exercising his powers because he's sedated and intubated.

If that happens, how ready will they be to restore his powers to him, assuming he survives the experience? They might take the view he'll need to spend quite some time recovering after his ordeal.

I am just loooviiiing this! This is some form of justice!

The idea that Trump is willingly going to a doctor quackster who causes him physical pain in order to get healed, where there is no scientific evidence that those methods even work! On top of it the doc gets even paid for this type of torture treatment! Brillant, absolutely brillant!
When I mentioned that too I got yelled at that osteopaths were mds and wikipedia was used as a reference. I told them to read the entry on osteopathy that minces no words as to whether it is an alternative medicine then talks about a particularly quacky form of it.

It's not gone. He only wants us to think it's gone. They have converted part of the upstairs White House into a medical clinic, so they can keep treating him there. Too many people around the Trumps have tested positive now for it to be fake. For example Kayleigh McEnany (press secretary) and two of her assistants. White House staffers and secret service are leaking to the press how upset they are about being put at risk.
The meta story itself ...

Of course just to work there you need a clearance, I had a top secret during my jobs there. These are also people that routinely hide things for the people who live there.

Am I wrong you might not want to upset people who might have to take a bullet for you some day?

I took several reiki classes so now am a Reiki Master. What annoys me was the very FIRST thing we learned was if we suspected a client was actually in need of a doctor is we should stop and not continue until they did so. Of course, people who just want to argue on the net will get into games like 'what is the ethical thing if they do not have money' or 'but how do you KNOW they need a doctor if you are not one' but the idea is pretty clear. It got repeated several times, the reiki classes did NOT make us doctors nor should we pretend we were them. Our job was healing. If healing meant calming their mind with alternative medicine, ok, but just as ok was if we gave them an incentive to see a doctor if they needed one and were trying to use us as a substitute.

Seems all too plausible

Now imagine Donald Trump—who will not sit through a simple intelligence briefing even if the words have been swapped out for pretty pictures—submitting to a daily coronavirus test. Picture someone trying to stick a swab up his nose for the second or 20th or 100th time, or bringing him a tube to spit into each morning. His whole life has been built around never doing anything he doesn’t want to do. Who’s going to make him? He won’t even wear a mask! He won’t stay in hospital with a life-threatening infection! It’s absurd to think he was ever following a rigorous testing regimen. (The White House did not respond to questions from Slate about whether the president had been tested regularly, and when his last negative test was.)

I just realized that a snooty, coronavirus-related nickname for Trump I've seen used now and again since the summer really fits now:

The Plague Rat in Chief.
