I'm fascinated by the things people in the 1960's and 70's seemed to think looked "futuristic." I can KIND OF understand why they thought that aesthetic looked "futuristic" but not entirely. So much of it is just so ugly in addition to not being even remotely practical.

I've also never been fond of the "scifi" build style of just having tons of cold, jagged metal everywhere. That is not and never will be pleasing to the eye for most people. When I play games like Empyrion that give a lot of freedom about this, I like to make the interior spaces of my ships look very rustic with a lot of wood textures because I think it just looks a lot more pleasing to the eye.
