If I were king their new job would be visiting COVID and cancer patients and wounded vets every day, acompanied by a hospital chaplain.
So, funny thing... it'd be a punishment for them, but it wouldn't make a difference.
Case in point, my mom's priest comes from fairly old money - so, since he also takes care of his parents, he was given a parish to teach him humility.
He's been there for decades now - mostly he just doesn't do his job properly. He barely does anything for his parish unless for the ultra conservative, women have to cover their hair, internet is bad types [and I doubt that].
He does preach politics from the pulpit too. I try to weasel out of going to church with my mom when visiting because I legit want to punch the man. [I almost always succeed - I think because I think I might have said how much I want to punch him]
In other words, it'd be a good punishment, though not fair to the patients, but it won't teach any lessons.
