The case began when he targeted a BBC Panorama documentary called “Trump: A Second Chance.”
The film edited excerpts from his January 6, 2021 speech at the Ellipse in Washington, D.C., stitching together clips out of sequence. Trump claimed the edit falsely implied he had directly incited the violence that followed.
The BBC admitted the edit was “an error of judgment” and issued a public apology. But it refused to back down. Its lawyers filed a motion to dismiss the entire case, then launched an aggressive discovery campaign that could put January 6 itself on trial.
Trump didn’t just file a lawsuit. He handed the BBC a loaded gun.
Not that I'm particularly familiar with state fairs, for obvious reasons, but it seems to me that people are likely to want to attend local Independence Day celebrations with their family, friends and neighbours, rather than make a special trip to DC, particular since the Freedom 250 events are so politicised, and will similarly prefer to attend their own local state or county fairs whenever they are held.![]()
It doesn't look like attendance records will come close to a regular state fair.
Hence why the whole idea of having an event like this was stupid from the beginning.it seems to me that people are likely to want to attend local Independence Day celebrations with their family, friends and neighbours, rather than make a special trip to DC, particular since the Freedom 250 events are so policised, and will similarly prefer to attend their own local state or county fairs whenever they are held.
Paywalled. (Though there's not much to the story atm on CNN's site.)
Yeah, most of the time I can't even be assed to travel to the Illinois State Fair 45 mimutes away in Springfield, and I am pretty sure we have one of the better state fairs, and I like going there just to see the silly farm animals and to visit the Conservation World booths. Not that I'm particularly familiar with state fairs, for obvious reasons, but it seems to me that people are likely to want to attend local Independence Day celebrations with their family, friends and neighbours, rather than make a special trip to DC, particular since the Freedom 250 events are so policised, and will similarly prefer to attend their own local state or county fairs whenever they are held.
Ohio claims to have invented deep fried butter. Other states dispute this. I am not sure how this reflects on American fairs. Most of what I know of state fairs comes from my friend in Massachusetts, but since she tends to return from their state fair muttering about her theory that overindulgence in deep-fried foods affects both intelligence and DNA, and how this explains a lot about the western parts of the Commonwealth, I'm not sure she's a completely unbiased informant.
Imagine not only admitting you invented such an abomination but FIGHTING over it.Ohio claims to have invented deep fried butter. Other states dispute this. I am not sure how this reflects on American fairs.
Spoilsports.Small detail -- county and state fairs happen in the fall, mainly for reasons any farm kid understands, but also so attendees don't unnecessarily inconvenience anyone by dying of heatstroke.

Yes, and the three day Notting Hill Carnival in London regularly attracts between one and two million visitors every year, but it's not the same as state fairs, since it's not competing with local carnivals all over the rest of the country.Last month in the grand boulevard that was originally constructed to host the parades of East Germany's May Day parades:
It's an annual festival.
Over 1 million visitors in 2026.
