If the article is to be believed, Iranian military intelligence have been hacking into the emails and other confidential data of multiple figures in the administration for years, and this is simply the first salvo in an information war.

The scariest part isn’t what they published. It’s what they haven’t published yet.

The Patel dump was described by one expert as something Iran had “sitting around.” Which means this wasn’t their best play. This was the opener. The warmup act. I assure you, EVERYONE is hacking everyone a lot more often than we hear about. This even includes "allied" countries hacking each other to see what they are up to and spy on technological secrets. People who work in cyber security for big companies learn about this the hard way. So I can completely believe this is hardly the first time Iran hacked a US official.
