Good lord preserve me, until I saw thebeaverton.com I just figured it was real. Didn't so much as bat an eye.

Same. It's sad when you can't tell satire from reality. I saw something in Threads earlier today that claimed 1) other countries also have files on Epstein, 2) Several world leaders went to this Davos thing specifically to threaten Trump with releasing said files if he doesn't stop acting batshit crazy.

"If it wasn't for us you'd all be speaking German right now". He said those actual words.

In Switzerland.

Where German is the language.
Right, but it's Swiss Standard German not High Standard German. There are major differences, just like between British and American English, even if there is no ocean between both countries.

Also Trump neglects that in Switzerland also French, Italian and Rhaeto-Romance are spoken, too.

Now I am just trying to think of German phrases with a british accent, but I don't know any German.

Here's an explanatory video with English subtitles showcasing the differences between High Standard German and Swiss German or Schwyzerdütsch. This Swiss accent is also very noticeable when Swiss are speaking English. Swiss German makes sometimes Germans feel like Irish/Scottish people feel to Londoners.

Also some old Swiss music, just for the sound of it.

I had a French teacher in high school who was from Germany. She spoke French with a heavy German accent. Her name was Madame Stockpoole or something like that. We secretly called her Eva Braun. French spoken with a German accent has a vague sinister quality to it.

She was scary - she made us read all of Les Miserables in the original French. To this day, I still know the French national anthem (La Marseillaise) by heart because she drilled it into us with an iron fist.

My Latin teacher had a rich Virginia accent. Not one of those upper-crust Virginia "dang near British" accents, either -- hers was a real hillbilly honk. To this day, I mentally hear all Latin phrases with a serious twang.

I had a German teacher in college. Couldn’t stand her and got a reimbursement for the class after one week. She was from Germany, but had a thick high-asshole accent.

I ONLY had German teachers throughout school. They spoke German in French and English classes. Some were assholes.

Mrs Quandry took Italian at Portland State. One of her classmates was learning so she could give a reading at a wedding in Italy. The instructor taught the class with a Sicilian accent. The wedding was in Milan. The student came back EXTREMELY upset.

I call people dumme scheiße sometimes, though I'd imagine with a highly American accent.
