Is the US reporters' behaviour typical, or does it reflect the nature of the journalists who were allowed to accompany Trump?
Some have started to wonder if the White House press corps has been replaced by the same agency they use for their Melania impersonator.

Der Postillon, which is the German equivalent to "The Onion", is titling this:

Because they were Antifa 80 years ago: Trump arrests thousands of US Army veterans.

Washington, D.C. (dpo) – Now the slate is being cleared: Following the announcement that "Antifa" would be classified as a terrorist organization, President Donald Trump has ordered the arrest of several thousand US veterans who fought against Nazi Germany in World War II.

"Antifa is a dangerous radical disaster," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "Today, as it was over 80 years ago. We will arrest every one of these left-wing thugs who, under the guise of fighting fascists, used violence against peace-loving German patriots."

According to estimates by the US Department of Veterans Affairs, approximately 45,000 World War II veterans will still be alive in the United States in 2025. They are accused of having participated in the largest "anti-fascist action" of all time, from the Normandy landings to the liberation of Nazi Germany.

The Antifa thugs are said to have not shied away from using armed force. Numerous photos document how anti-fascists used brutal violence against their opponents between 1941 and 1945, suppressing their freedom of expression.

"Even back then, Antifa fighters were known for denigrating their political opponents as fascists," Trump said. "And if they didn't like a head of state, like the German one at the time, they called him Hitler."

Arrests are currently underway in all 50 US states. Much resistance is not expected, as most of the anti-fascists are well over 80 years old.

Apparently during the Trump-Starmer joint press conference today, the US reporters all stood up and applauded both when the two men entered the room and again when they left. Their British counterparts remained seated and didn't applaud.

Is the US reporters' behaviour typical, or does it reflect the nature of the journalists who were allowed to accompany Trump?
Trump has banned a lot of news agencies from accompanying him.

"Antifa" reads like a radical militant cult. We really need to start using our words and stop abbreviating and acronymizing cute little rallying markers that get reinterpreted and thrown back in our faces. This is true for all sides but particularly groups such as anti-fascists.

“I’m disappointed that I came to Canada, a Canada that (where) it is very, very difficult to find Canadians who are passionate about the American-Canadian relationship. You ran a campaign where it was anti-American. ‘Elbows up.’ ... It was an anti-American campaign. That has continued. That’s disappointing,” he said.
Easily remedied, get the fuck out.

Finally! A Reich thug says something that will receive near-unanimous agreement.

I expect great success from Senator Kim on this. </sarcasm>

Dem Senator Introduces Bill to End Profiteering by Trump and Lawmakers (archive.today)
President Donald Trump and his family are building a multinational cryptocurrency, real estate, and licensing empire on the back of his presidency, catapulting his estimated worth by billions.

The net worths of individual members of Congress are estimated to range between the tens of thousands of dollars and more than half a billion. The justices of the Supreme Court are estimated to hold a collective net worth of over $64 million.
Sen. Andy Kim (D-N.J.) is introducing legislation to try and combat the culture of political profiteering that has become endemic to virtually every corner of the federal government — and supercharged under the second Trump administration. “If you have egotistical, narcissistic, corrupt people in government, you will have an egotistical, narcissistic, and corrupt government,” Kim says. “But if you have people who are dedicated to public service, people who are honest, you can have an altogether different kind of government. I want the American people to see the choice.”

Trump has weeded out the White House press corps so it only contains Trump sycophants and reporters who recognize that genuflecting to Trump is the only way they'll keep their jobs.

Pentagon demands journalists pledge to not obtain unauthorized material
The Trump administration unveiled a new crackdown Friday on journalists at the Pentagon, saying it will require them to pledge they won’t gather any information — even unclassified — that hasn’t been expressly authorized for release, and will revoke the press credentials of those who do not obey.

Under the policy, the Pentagon may revoke press passes for anyone it deems a security threat. Possessing confidential or unauthorized information, under the new rules, would be grounds for a journalist’s press pass to be revoked.

“DoW remains committed to transparency to promote accountability and public trust,” the document says, using an acronym for the newly rebranded Department of War. “However, DoW information must be approved for public release by an appropriate authorizing official before it is released, even if it is unclassified.”
Why don't they just outlaw any reporting that makes them look bad? This is what they want anyways.

I'm old enough to remember the ABC Conspiracy Trial in the UK

Aubrey and Campbell had predominantly worked by cross-referencing public sources of information such as open army journals. The case challenged the presumption by UK security services that arbitrary material related to military or security operations could be inherently considered secret, or that synthesising such material could be considered espionage. One exchange in court resulted in a witness claiming that the sign outside their base was a secret, despite being visible from a public road.[4] Key witness Col. Johnston admitted under cross-examination that “To be frank, I am not certain what is a secret and what isn’t.”[4]
