This story needs more shark.

As for current Tesla owners expecting to have their vehicles upgraded to full self-driving - well, about that...Tesla CEO Elon Musk has seemingly given up on an affordable personal vehicle.
During this week's earnings call, the increasingly unpredictable CEO went as far as to mock the idea of a non-autonomous $25,000 car, dismissing it as "pointless."
That's because Musk has doubled down on the concept of a "robotaxi" that can be loaned out by owners to make money while they're not using it — essentially an AI-powered Uber.
I suspect when you read "a whole new hardware upgrade," you might be better off translating that to "a whole new car."Tesla CEO Elon Musk has finally said the quiet part out loud: he's worried that the vast majority of Tesla vehicles currently on the road won't be able to actually drive themselves after all, even if buyers paid extra for hardware that he claimed at the time would allow them to do just that.
The current generation of the EV maker's lineup makes use of HW3 computers, an assembly that acts as the brain of the car, which has been around since 2019 and required customers with HW2 to pay an additional $1,000 for a retrofit.
But to get cars to fully drive themselves — a future version of the company's infamous "Full Self-Driving" (FSD) software that won't need to be supervised, according to Musk — customers may need a whole new hardware upgrade.
Four people were killed in Toronto after the Tesla they were riding in crashed into a pillar and burst into flames.
A fifth rider, an unidentified woman in her twenties, narrowly survived the crash after a bystander smashed open a window, allowing her to escape the burning vehicle.
According to the heroic bystander's account, the Tesla Model Y's electronic doors may have been at fault for why the passengers were trapped inside the electric vehicle.

On Wednesday, Tesla announced it was recalling around 2,431 Cybertrucks manufactured between November 6, 2023, and July 30, 2024, due to an issue with their drive inverters that can cause the vehicles to lose propulsion while driving.
The recall represents roughly eight percent of the 28,250 Cybertrucks that have been sold in the US so far, according to Kelly Blue Book. Moreover, this is the sixth recall for the 2024 model of Tesla pickup, which only began being delivered to customers in November last year.
We don't have a "Schadenfreude" emoji? Well poo.Hrm.

Video points out several times the thing's resemblance to a dumpster. One could argue it does so more times than might be strictly necessary, but I'm sure it was in the interest of clarity. (Although, dumpsters might have a slander case ...)![]()
