I think Putin expects that widespread famine in Africa will lead even more people from Africa and the Middle East trying to cross the Mediterranean to seek a better life in the EU, which EU governments certainly do care about (and not in a good way).

The US isn't the only place where large numbers of asylum seekers presenting themselves at the southern border is politically contentious.

Somehow, after translating the title of the video, I feel its not fake.... but the tone doesn't really match those of the official Russian propaganda either.

The shot with the pelican is from a Red Bull AIr Race event. They use air filled pylons, one of which is in the shot and you can clearly see Red Bull on it.
Bird strikes are not that rare. The US has roughly 13,000 of them a year. However the number of major accidents is quite low and odds of a human fatality is stated as small as 1 in 1 billion flight hours.
Most strikes happen on take off/landing altitudes (which happens to be the heights most birds fly at) with the cruising altitudes being quite safe.

How did the Russian government actually gain the public's support for war? It turns out: by releasing tons of revisionist pulp fiction since the early 2010s!

Have a look at that thread, really lots and tons of disturbing stuff. The author argues convincingly that these amounts of books only can be published in Russia with the blessings of the FSB, meaning the government.


What's in these books? For example a Russian time traveler hijacking Hitler's body and - yup - destroying the UK. "Comrade Hitler execute Churchill!" Later Germany joining the USSR and wrecking havoc upon the world. You can also learn by this: what pissed off the Russians are not the Nazis themselves, they wanted to fight with the Nazis against the rest of the world. No, it is that Hitler attacked the USSR is what pissed them off, and robbed them off that chance.

Yep. And to anyone spouting similar sentiments these days they can go f*ck themselves. My grandfather was at Pearl Harbour. WWII probably played a part in his not living long enough for me to meet him [he died when my mom was 18, so he didn't die in the war]. No one should be trying to give away the land of another country; or try to bully said country into giving up their homeland.

PS - this isn't just my views on this - I'm really against invading anyone else, and I'm well aware of the US' role in such things.
