It's like no one understands Trump's pathology and the pathology of 70 million Americans.
Nevertheless, leaders of the US's former allies still have to engage with him, one way or another, if only in an attempt to limit the damage he's causing. The certainties of former alliances and partnerships are now gone, but it may well still be possible to persuade Trump that there are ways he comes out of this looking good and ways he comes out of it looking like an all-time loser.

Obviously they can't say this directly, but Biden took the blame for the outcome of Trump's deal with the Taliban and his betrayal of the Afghan people, but because of the timing, he's not going to get a similar break over Ukraine.

Yup. Sadly, the only way to get Trump to do anything is to convince him that there's something big in it for him. The only way to get him to agree to give any more aid to Ukraine is to give him something bigger and shinier than what Putin is giving him.

Perhaps free 'certain' body part enlargement mechanisms OR free hair transplant + hairdo makeovers OR big gaudy gold statue of himself in front of Mar-a-lago? Can't think of too much else that would entice him.

Seems Macron nailed it.

I'm calling this the "Trump can fuck off" deal.

The European Union offered its own agreement on "critical materials" to Ukraine on Monday, just as U.S. President Donald Trump claimed Washington was close to inking a deal with Kyiv for the rights to its vast natural resources.

Europe's Commissioner for Industrial Strategy Stéphane Séjourné said he'd pitched the rival proposal to Ukrainian officials he met in Kyiv during a visit by the European Commission to mark the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
"Twenty-one of the 30 critical materials Europe needs can be provided by Ukraine in a win-win partnership," Séjourné said, according to AFP.

And he noted pointedly: "The added value Europe offers is that we will never demand a deal that's not mutually beneficial."

Donald Trump says no NATO membership for Ukraine or safety guarantees.

Quote: "NATO – you can forget about, I think that's probably the reason the whole thing started."

And of course again licking Putin's feet: "He's a very smart guy. He's a very cunning person, I think we're going to have a deal. If I didn't get elected, I believe he would have just continued to go through Ukraine."

And for that Ukraine is giving away access to rare earth to the treacherous USA. Tough times.

Trump and Zelensky shouted at each other live on TV in the Oval Office, with poodle JD coming as sidekick to Trump's help.

The meeting was discontinued before the planned ending. The planned press conference afterwards was cancelled, and the mineral deal not signed.

This is what Trump told Zelensky before he left the office: "You’re either gonna make a deal or we are out, and if we’re out, you’ll fight it out. I don’t think it’s gonna be pretty, but you’ll fight it out."

This is what Trump posted afterwards on social networks: "We had a very meaningful meeting in the White House today. Much was learned that could never be understood without conversation under such fire and pressure. It’s amazing what comes out through emotion, and I have determined that President Zelenskyy is not ready for Peace if America is involved, because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations. I don’t want advantage, I want PEACE. He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for Peace."

Please god, take Trump now!

Trump is just too, too perfect for this sinful Earth.

Good thing the E.U. is offering a much better deal.

That scene was a shameful, despicable 2-on-1 thug gang-up browbeating in my opinion. President Zelensky stood his ground, asserted for his country and declined to kowtow. He was shouted over and strong-armed. For that he is shamed, pummeled and cast out to the Russian wolves, who are likely applauding and laughing their way to the next war zone.
And afterward, some pundits deigned to elaborate that he ought to lick the boots and cater to Trump's kiss my ring side, that it was his fault somehow that he got yelled at. Beyond disgusting.

Trump got tons of applause from the Kremlin.

Dmitry Medvedev said this: "For the first time, Trump told the cocaine clown the truth to his face: the Kyiv regime is playing with the third world war. And the ungrateful pig received a strong slap on the wrist from the owners of the pigsty. This is useful. But it's not enough - we must stop military aid to the Nazi machine."

Additionally he called Zelensky "an insolent pig" on Twitter.

Maria Zakharova from Russian Foreign Ministry: "I think Zelensky's biggest lie of all his lies was his assertion in the White House that the Kyiv regime in 2022 was alone, without support. How Trump and Vance held back from hitting that scumbag is a miracle of restraint, biting the hand that feeds him."

Russia Today praised it: "Zelensky sits with hands between legs as US President and VP hammer him. "

Yevgeny Primakov: "Everyone saw everything. I would just draw attention to what is in the nature of the Kyiv regime: provocations, bloody provocations.", also accusing that Ukraine might stage false flag operations to put more on blame on Russia.

Viktor Orban also joined the club: "Strong men make peace, weak men make war." And Trump "bravely stood for peace, even if it was difficult for many to digest. "
