Nevertheless, leaders of the US's former allies still have to engage with him, one way or another, if only in an attempt to limit the damage he's causing. The certainties of former alliances and partnerships are now gone, but it may well still be possible to persuade Trump that there are ways he comes out of this looking good and ways he comes out of it looking like an all-time loser.It's like no one understands Trump's pathology and the pathology of 70 million Americans.
Obviously they can't say this directly, but Biden took the blame for the outcome of Trump's deal with the Taliban and his betrayal of the Afghan people, but because of the timing, he's not going to get a similar break over Ukraine.
