What really scares me is if he fires all of the government workers who actually do the work of government. Like issuing social security checks.

I used to watch Morning Joe without fail every morning with my coffee. I haven't watched since Nov 5. I tried, but it just depressed me.

I'm a "doomer" who believes that resource overshoot and climate change will bring down civilizations on a global scale by 2100. I had hoped that we could make life a little better for people on our way out, but nope, the people of the U.S. chose to make things even worse that much sooner.

In the grand scheme of things, we are fucked and have been for some time. I'm keeping my mental and emotional equilibrium by trying to view this as an anthropologist: The rise and fall of humanity. We get ringside seats to the fall of Life As We Know It, and then things will start to get really bad.

I think by 2050 there will be clear signs of how badly we fucked up, but humanity won't be wiped out in a day or a year or even a decade.... the collapse is likely to be slow and painful.
