The entire event was one stunning moment after another. Mrs. Beebo and I watched it all on C-Span (because the mainstream media were just talking heads with the convention running silently in the background like wallpaper).
I was honestly surprised by how entertaining it all was, with deeply emotional moments over and over again. Warnock and AOC came out like prizefighters, and Hillary Clinton gave the best speech of hers I've ever heard. To me, this was one of the most bittersweet moments, because I kept thinking "Why didn't she speak out like this before?" This question ties into "Why am I responding to Kamala Harris this time around?"
My theory is that Harris finally found her authentic voice, unfettered by the focus groups and pollsters and bevy of consultants who tied Clinton into politically correct knots. Somehow between 2020 and 2024, Harris decided to be herself. Unlike Clinton, she got a second chance and this time around she got it right.
