You have more faith than I do in people rising up to fight it. There was no big uprising against TFG that even vaguely resembled war as you put it, for his whole presidency. He certainly deserved a revolt.

Well... here's the thing: I think most people on the left know that a "revolt" is against our best interest for a few clear reasons.

1) We'd never organize all of the people left of center into a unified group. We are the majority, but it's a serious herding cats problem.

2) Right wingers have a lot more police, soldiers, gun owners and total lunatics.

3) Left wing media is too honest for it's own good. Right wingers mostly seem to not know about the rise in right wing terror attacks because right wing media isn't telling them about it. But all major media networks will cover left wing violence. So left wing violence backfires more.

I don't think a civil war is at all likely because neither side is likely to be organized enough for it, but I am very afraid of terror attacks skyrocketing.

I don't think a civil war is likely. I don't think any sort of real organized resistance is likely either such as sustained mass protests in large numbers across the country for example.

Where did I say there would be a revolt? Simply move? Moving is anything but simple and cheap. Most won't be able to afford to move if they are even allowed to move.

The kind of rising we had is getting people registered and voting. If abortion is restricted nationwide, you will see more of that. I already expect it to happen in Texas even if the law is struck down.

Yesterday’s hearing on Texas’s SB 8 did not go well for the Lone Star State, but Roe v. Wade still faces dire threats.

That's good but some of the reasoning is warped.

And they might be joined by a sixth vote. Alleged attempted rapist Brett Kavanaugh also voted to allow implementation of SB 8, but at oral arguments expressed a newfound concern for gun owners should the law be allowed to stand. I’m not making that up. Kavanaugh has found a way to understand abortion rights through the lens of gun rights, because we live in a hell where guns have more rights than women. But I guess I should be thankful that Kavanaugh got out of his cups long enough to notice that if SB 8 is allowed to go forward, other states might pass the same kind of legislation targeting gun owners or gun manufacturers.

But Justices Clarence Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch were unmoved by the idea of this “chilling effect” on abortion rights and were instead concerned by the chilling effect on religious liberty brought about by mask mandates. Again, I’m not making this up, because we are in hell. Both Alito and Gorsuch indicated that they were skeptical that the harm to women in Texas is so great that it requires an immediate injunction, and they made this point by drawing analogies to mask mandates, which they argued attack religious liberty but are not immediately enjoined by the courts pending a review of those mandates on the merits. These two men literally sat there on high and argued that forcing a person to give birth against her will is analogous to forcing a person to wear a mask during a pandemic—and should be held to the same legal standard—and did so while repeatedly interrupting the woman lawyer pleading the case in front of them.

So Alito and Thomas are comparing the right to choose abortion to the right to get COVID? They should be all for it, then. After all, that's how the right wing is twisting "my body, my choice".
