I guess it would have been too obvious if Alito or Thomas were part of the jury pool.
Do either of them have summer residencies in NY?

I mean, if all the Trumpies want to move to Russia, I won't stand in their way. Hell, I might even help them pack!
:qft::word: X 100,000.000.000.000.000 ...

Yep, I'd be like PLEASE, just go to Russia, please, please, please.

I didn't expect Rittenhouse to be smart, but he really does seem to fit so neatly into the dumbest stereotypes for Republicans. Every one of his posts that I've seen reflect cognitive ability of a toddler.
I really hate stereotyping based on looks, but every image I have seen of him suggests he is more than a few rocks short of a box.

LOL, not sure that's fair. To me he looks like a lot of other pudgy, nerdy men who are sometimes a LOT smarter than he is. I think hindsight bias colors such stereotyping. I can think of one friend of mine in particular who has a similar, dopey eyed look but is tremendously smarter than Rittenhouse.

Rittenhouse is still a kid, and it's a tragedy of bad parenting he was given a fucking gun and sent to a riot... His parents are clearly at least as dumb as he is. It's also a travesty that this perfect storm of stupidity seemed to impress a lot of conservatives and made them think "This is somebody who needs a microphone!"

He just has this kind of unnerving vacant look to his eyes.

I suppose it could be a side effect of basically, knowing "WTF have I done?" and basically being forced into being this murderer on a pedestal life.

I get where you are coming from. To me he mostly looks like a kid. And some great scientists also kind of looked vacant and "dopey" in the eyes. Like this dude: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Bardeen

Rottenhouse is a spoiled little rich kid who thinks the laws don't apply to him. How he managed to convince a jury to acquit him I'll never understand. But I take small solice in knowing he will have to live with what he did for the rest of his life, for whatever that's worth.

Without getting into details about my brother, I can confidently say Rittenhouse will continue to get away with shit until he doesn't. Followed by a revolving door jail stint.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if he eventually gets convicted of something and he'll claim he's being persecuted for being a Republican.

Exonerated Five Member Yusef Salaam Is Being Real Classy About The Trump Verdict

In 1989, Donald Trump took out a full page ad in the New York Times calling for the Central Park Five to be put to death. It would later turn out that those 14- and 15-year-old boys he wanted to kill were entirely innocent and that someone else had committed the crime — which is why they are now known as the Exonerated Five instead. To this day, Trump has refused to apologize and has, in fact, continued to insist that they are guilty — despite the fact that we now know the assailant was Matias Reyes, a serial rapist who confessed and whose DNA was a match.
Now, one of those boys, Yusef Salaam, is on the New York City Council and Donald Trump has been found guilty on 34 felony charges. Oh, how the tables have turned!

You’d think Mr. Salaam would be gloating, but he’s not.
In a statement, Salaam said:
Even though Donald Trump wanted us executed even when it was proven that we were innocent, I do not take pleasure at today's verdict.
We should be proud that today the system worked. But we should be somber that we Americans have an ex-President who has been found guilty on 34 separate felony charges. And while today might not be as shocking as January 6th, it is equally profound.
On January 7th, a large majority of Americans agreed that Trump should never again lead this country.
Let us hope we wake up tomorrow with the same conviction.
We have to do better than this. Because we are better than this.

The first post-trial press conference of the once and potentially future president, and now convicted felon, was bizarre, even by his standards. The word unhinged tends to be overused in this context, but Donald Trump lacked focus as he spoke after the conclusion of his trial in a New York state court on 34 felony counts relating to his payoff of the porn star Stormy Daniels. The presumptive Republican nominee ranted about this and that, including off-topic riffs on “Little League games” being canceled, “propane stoves,” the rainy weather, and immigrants living in “luxury hotels.” It wasn’t really a press conference—he took no questions—but nor was it what some feared it would be: a call to action.

ProPublica has reportedly received a C&D from Trump's attorneys demanding this article not be published, so I guess factor that into whether you should read it or not...

That is an intense article to read, the extent of payments to influence orangey's cases. So much corruption. Article downloaded in case it disappears from the web.
