/grrr

SCOTUS made it a 'states rights' issue. And clearly, anti-women states are damned well going to try their best to prosecute women traveling to obtain a legal abortion elsewhere.

I hope whatever court that ends up in kicks them in the head with "STATES RIGHTS YOU FUCKWAD, it wasn't a crime because it didn't happen in your jurisdiction and Americans have the constitutional right of free travel."

and if they don't, then maybe family of women killed by denial of medical assistance for ectopic pregnancies can demand doctors be extradited and prosecuted for 'wrongful death'.
Geee, when was the last time 'states' rights was a rallying call - oh yeah, the Civil War..... 🤮

This guy again? I see he won his primary and is advancing to the general election in November, despite having been indicted in 2015. He has successfully been delaying that now for 7 years.

Just a portion of wiki; This guy reads like a "How to be evil" guide
Paxton has been under indictment since 2015 on state securities fraud charges relating to activities prior to taking office. He has pleaded not guilty. In October 2020, several high-level assistants in Paxton's office accused him of "bribery, abuse of office and other crimes".[4][5]

After Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election and Donald Trump refused to concede while making false claims of election fraud, Paxton aided Trump in his efforts to overturn the result, from filing the unsuccessful Texas v. Pennsylvania case in the Supreme Court to speaking at the rally Trump held on January 6, 2021, that immediately preceded the 2021 United States Capitol attack.

They get faster bump back times than my credit score.

Honestly, I feel like the founding fathers would have a lot of to say against what's going on. They literally put in a structure to EVOLVE the Constitution, not keep it where it was when they wrote it.

And these so called 'Originalists' are anything but. They are destroying the bill of rights.

Not mad at you, Innula, but utterly disgusted at my country at this point.

The founders were completely divided and bickered over everything, and they ended up making horrible compromises simply to be able to get something done. Those who claim to call upon them to answer questions for today are simply cherry picking whatever opinion they happened to like and get to sample between Jefferson, Madison, Franklin, Adams, etc.. As an aside Alexander Hamilton argued in the Federalist papers that requirements of a super majority were a problem with the Articles of Confederation and argued that it subjected the majority to the whims of a few. For some odd reason, those who argue about the primacy of the founders prefer to ignore Hamilton and have decided to dig through other sources to get to the outcome they prefer.

And once the Supreme Court says states' rights don't matter in that case, we fall clearly into Dred Scott territory, and that will truly light the fuse. Again. Buckle up, folks. 💥

I was talking only last night to a friend in a Republican-gerrymandered state in which repressive abortion laws have just kicked in. She was saying that this is going to make a great deal of difference to where her 17-year-old daughter applies for college, and to where she decides to live and work after graduation.

Every law has a person tried in the state in which the crime committed, not their home state. If a person, say, comes to Minnesota where abortion is legal, they have committed no crime.

These fuckers want to overturn jurisprudence, no surprise. States' rights, motherfuckers. What are they going to do; have checkpoints to test for pregnant women crossing the border? Evil, evil, evil.

You're correct. this practice should still be extremely illegal as long as the supreme court isn't quite that insane...

Much like they did before the Civil War - letter next to the name has changed, but authoritarians are still the same - freedom for me but not for thee.

Yeah... a part of me is hoping this leads to a new era of moral policing since that would turn a lot more against the GOP.
I hope there's free fast food and cable if we become facist.
