I don't intentionally mean to be a Debbie-downer. I'm just scared. Very scared. I have always believed in rule of law despite much evidence to the contrary and this is high stakes. If he never sees justice I fear that I will lose all faith in it.

It's probably best that I just wait like everyone else, see how it plays out and refrain from further speculation.

Let's face it Trump is an ......................... (fill in whatever is available with the words ass and hole in it) but.... we simply don't know (yet) what Mueller has found and if what he has found is severe enough to report. We don't know if he found stuff to take 45 to court or kick him out of office or not.
We all have been speculating that the Donald is a sock puppet in the hands of the Kremlin, but how much is found that is usable evidence directly against 45?
How much special laws and procedures are there woven into the US law system to protect a sitting president (any president)?
How much has to be kept classified in the best interests for the country?
Some might even be totally unprecedented until this day.
It takes time.
So I think, leaning back for a short time and see how it plays is a good strategy to get it all a bit back into perspective again.
That is what I'm doing regarding to Brexit at times as well.

I think the most decisive factor in Trump's win was voter suppression and some actual voting fraud on the part of local county governments. And that is simply not in Mueller's purview. So yes, I agree that Trump stole the election, but no, I don't think Mueller's report on Russian activity will necessarily touch on Trump's legitimacy.

As for "rule of law" -- it's pretty much under attack from the GOP and has been for decades. See "voter suppression" above. Mueller's findings tell us fuck all about how far down we've already sunk in that regard.

Have you seen the various bits and pieces of information coming out about Cambridge Analytica? I, too, believe that the majority came from voter suppression, sometimes, as in Wisconsin, to the tune of hundreds of thousands of people, but I do also believe that voter registration files may have been tampered with. As someone whose birthday was different after having voted at the same polling location for 25+ years I perhaps feel a bit more strongly about it.
Here's an example:
Cambridge Analytica — Did They Target Voter Registration Files?

As to "rule of law", yes indeed it has been under attack for decades. Perhaps that has felt like being a frog in boiling water while the actual theft of the presidency and lack of consequence for it really shakes any lingering belief I felt in it. The continuing advantages that stem from that theft, such as the loading of the courts and SC, sicken me; fruit of the poison tree and all that.

You are probably right in that Mueller's report certainly couldn't address most of that.

I was afraid I was going to have to say this, and maybe I'm saying a bit too early, but

THANK GOD FOR THE U.S. ATTORNEY'S OFFICE FOR THE SOUTHERN DISTRICT OF NEW YORK. I guess we'll have to hope they get enough on the bastard they can perp walk him out the back door of the White House. Hopefully by January 20121 latest.

We were never getting rid of Donald before 2020. The GOP won't let that happen and they control the veto levers for these particular methods.

All we can hope is that there's some information in it that can help with the narrative going into the election, and that after we (turns three times, spits) win in November that we can nail these criminal motherfuckers to the legal wall to make sure that this doesn't happen again within anyone's lifetime.

It was funny to watch CNN yesterday when the publishing of the report was breaking news. 4 experts at the news desk, one reporter somewhere with view on the White House, one somewhere else important in Washington (wherever it was) and all talking and talking and talking, acting totally excited ..... and they all basically said the same: We have no clue what is in the report and no clue about what will be published to whom and when. And if that would have any consequences.
Cable news really did out-scream themselves yesterday. A solid 12+ hours of "we don't know yet". And social media was about as bad - Reddit and Twitter were wall-to-wall Trumpers gloating "SEE? NO COLLUSION! SUCKS TO BE YOU LIBS!".

There were a few voices of calm and wisdom, but they were pretty much drowned out. My catch phrase? "Wait for the doctor's report".

I noted in one thread that there were still 17 federal, state and local investigations ongoing - many of them fed by the info Mueller uncovered. If the Right thinks they've won a victory, they'd better prepare for the taste of ashes.

There's been no tweet from The Orange One in the last 22 hours, according to Twitter. The silence is very strange, and makes me feel like something really big is about to happen.
He forgot his phone charger at the White House and now the batteries are dead?

Is there someone here saying we would?

The hope, for me, was to see him figuratively snapped open like a lobster and publically humiliated (in the general sense, since he's incapable of feeling it) for the lackspittle efforts with Putin, along with all the follow-up criminal activities. The more he and his minions and followers feel he got away with something, the more likely it is we'll get stuck with another but smarter version of him, eventually.

No, I wasn't talking to anyone specific with that. Sorry if I gave that impression.

So in a nutshell.. they just reported on MSNBC that the report doesn't have sufficient evidence to indict Trump. This is specifically stated to not be related to whether or not a sitting President can be indicted. Barr states that he and Rosenstein both looked over the information and came to this conclusion. So far, just a very brief statement to that effect. Who knows what details that they will allow out. Hiring Barr as the AG was the best move that Trump has ever done. I bet he gets a lifetime membership to all the goodies Trump Inc is capable of providing for him and his family. Pet AG's who'd a thunk that they'd be an actual thing one day.

As nearly everyone who is not high on the kool-aid is stating, the 4 page Barr report is utter horseshit. I believe I see the play in action however. Give them about two weeks for the big fireworks to touch off from the state AGs. Repugs are currently shooting themselves in the foot suddenly trying to to hold up the Mueller report when even the super white washed Barr report is forced to say it does not exonerate the orange sack of shit.

And yes, I'm aware of how graphic all those metaphors were. It's the best I can manage instead of just screaming for an hour. Just because I think I see the play doesn't mean sitting through it is any less provoking.
