Well this would seem to indicate that no obstruction charges are in the cards for the Trump Family. It's been reported that Mueller isn't recommending any charges not already filed.

I guess there's always the possibility of sealed indictments and whatnot, but I don't think that's realistic - and at any rate if the report becomes public we'll learn about any sealed indictments when that happens.

Yeah, at first blush I got the impression that there would be no more indictments. All along I've tried not to get my hopes up too much for this. But now I realize they have been pretty high. Maybe now it's up to the AG to decide if he wants to bring any against anyone?

I guess we'll have to wait and see. Cuz again, the Justice Department says Mueller hasn't recommended any more charges. So everyone who's gonna be charged, has been already. Barr sure as hell isn't going to charge anyone. Maybe there's some already-filed charges that are sealed, but I'm not optimistic. Perhaps I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I suspect that Mueller hasn't referred any more charges because he passed everything that can be to state and city level authorities, which might be more appropriate, any way. He's supposed to be very justice oriented, and he has to realize that relying on the Justice dept, or the Senate to do things is more or less foolish right now.

Yes, I've harbored delish fantasies of watching Trump do a perp-walk out of the White House, but now that Mueller has actually submitted his report, my expectations are significantly lower and pragmatic. I've been wallowing in my own Dem-reality-bubble and now it's time to join the mainstream continuum.

When it comes down to it -- no matter what the findings (assuming we see them) -- I trust Mueller's report. From everything I've read, he may be a conservative Republican, but he also seems to be a man of unquestioned virtue and honor, with a keen mind and dedication to the Constitution. I believe he will put country ahead of party and deliver a fair perspective, grounded in law.

But I do reserve the right to be bitterly disappointed if I don't live to see Trump wearing an orange jumpsuit that matches his skin and hair color.

Agree. I believe the wheels of justice still turn in this country, and while this crisis has exposed some weak spots in the constitution and policies, I have faith our democracy can and will uphold the rule of law.

What worries me is Trump's turnabout. For 2 years we have been hearing him decry it as a witch hunt, say the investigation is fake, shouldn't exist. He fired Comey in large part due to it, asked people for loyalty statements, arranged to have AG's put in who would vow to cover it up and/or shut it down and all of the sudden a few days ago he says it should be made public?

Something is very off about that and I suspect it's advance knowledge of what is in the report.

I think it is the calm before the storm. No doubt, regardless of what it says, he and a team of propaganda artists that make even him look weak in that area are working on a way to present it as a complete exoneration. I just have this nagging ache in the pit of my stomach that too many eggs have been put in the Mueller basket, with no doubt help from the media who is now declaring it "done", despite more to come in state courts.

I feel like we're going to have another Iran-Contra/Nixon situation whereby smaller fry pay the price for a conspiracy by the President of the United States. Regardless, he is going to spin his tales. I firmly believe that he stole the election of the presidency of the United States. I firmly believe him to be a traitor. I also am not of the belief that he will ever pay the price, and that scares the daylights out of me.

I'm not too worried about that. Pretty sure that was just Trump fronting about not being scared, since he followed up the comments immediately by attacking the investigation as usual.

As for Trump not saying anything yet - it's maybe a long report and Barr and Trump's lawyers prolly have to go over everything yet. There's a (slim) chance Barr might not even be letting Trump's legal team look at it until Barr makes his own report-about-the-report to Congress, which might take a couple days.

Remember that Trump knows he doesn't need to defend himself against information that isn't made available to the public.

And if that would have any consequences.

And that is pretty much still the case.
We have to be patient. It will unfold over the next day/weeks/months.

It is a good thing that Mueller has published something at all.

I don't intentionally mean to be a Debbie-downer. I'm just scared. Very scared. I have always believed in rule of law despite much evidence to the contrary and this is high stakes. If he never sees justice I fear that I will lose all faith in it.

It's probably best that I just wait like everyone else, see how it plays out and refrain from further speculation.
