Fair point. Clippy evolved from Clippit.
You were correct about Melinda Gates being the nominatively responsible party for all the hate.

You don't read the things you link to, do you?

Nowhere in that article does it claim Clippy was part of Microsoft Bob. And that's because Clippy was part of the Microsoft Office Assistant. It was called Clippit, and was one of 9 graphical assistants you could choose from.
I kinda miss Links...

If it really has to be Bluetooth as way of transmission, then look for Skullcandy or Soundcore. Under all costs avoid Beats by Dr. Dre, which are just all about the hype and not about the sound.

If you don't want Bluetooth, just go for some classics like Beyerdynamic DT770, AKG K101, Sennheiser HD 25 or Audio Technica ATH-M50x.
Those you mentioned are out of my price range at 3 times the price. I went with these. They came today. I am happy. They are very comfortable, seem well built, sound very good - far better than the Soundblaster Jam headphones I had to send back, and were just $49.

I only just realized how weird it is that Microsoft's AI is Cortana, rather than Clippy. What was wrong with Clippy? It's not like Cortana is any better than Clippy was. They could use the same chat bot engine with Clippy, he looks a lot cooler than the weird spinning circle icon, and Clippy comes with a built-in following. Love him or hate him, he's got name recognition. He's the OG personal assistant.

Also, thinking about Clippy makes me think about Microsoft Bob. They should port Microsoft Bob to VR. Steam and Oculus Link put you in various living room desktop environments, just like Bob did, only Bob had helpful, cute animals running around. I'd take that over Steam and Oculus's sterile living rooms any day.

One disables Cortana with equal alacrity to that applied in the past to Clippy.
New Windows install (after installing Firefox, Notepad, and Winrar) involves diving into Group Policies.

I hated it anyways, but I also found that the web search bits aren't kind to my potato's processor.

It takes multiple settings to make it really go away o_O

I bet Clippy could help you get rid of Cortana. Cortana is Clippy's nemesis!

Fairplay and I both have laptops that have internal speakers that are pathetically low volume even at 100% with some video or games. I ordered this thing and it's great! volume is more than adequate and sounds quite good. Way better than I expected for $14.99. It doesn't need batteries or a power cord. It's powered by usb. It has no controls, just plug it in. Volume is controlled from the windows volume slider.

I am in a quest for on ear (not over the ear) headphones that won't break the bank without much luck. I got $40 Soundblaster v2 Jam headphones today. I don't think they sound very good so they are being returned. I ran across these which Amazon is selling for $50 today and have very good reviews. They were between $80 and $100 when they came out and the reviews were written. We shall see.

I'm not in a habit of posting product reviews but these both seem special.
I use these, though they are wired.

I had some JBL Bluetooth Earbuds but one of them fell into the lawnmower and was obliterated.

Back in the day, I used to eliminate all issues with Traffic in SimCity 2000 by replacing every road with rail lines.

I actually really liked Cortana when it first came out. Like I thought it was the best thing ever. I was just telling my computer my appointments and it made them. It reminded me there was a package due to arrive today because it was checking the tracking number so I didn't have to. I happened to have one of my once-in-a-decade flights during that time and it told me the flight status before I left for the airport. You could have it listen to music that was playing and it could give you the title and artist. It was even able to call a Lyft or book a hotel, although I never used those particular features.

And then it was gimped. The music identification ability was removed when Groove was killed. The ability to track packages and flights was removed. They removed personalized voice recognition - you used to be able to set Cortana to only respond to your specific voice and not just any voice it hears, but now that setting is gone so it's always opening up after hearing false positives, especially when I'm playing games. The only thing it can really do now is set calendar events and reminders by voice, and open some apps, and search the web.

I've had several of those. They sound good but the wires always break.
Is why I buy cheapos, but the ones I have actually sound pretty good for what I paid for them ($12 because discontinued :D and I got em in purple! )

I'll give them props for the flimsy plastic headband not snapping from being stuffed over my big ol' meaty head.

Is why I don't trust myself with bluetooth earbuds, I notice when a wired one falls out. And I know there's over-the-ear clips, but those tend to annoy.
