You've done some good work with the Washington Post, Bezos. Truly stellar. :hellokitty:
"If we are to thrive, not just endure, we must reinvent our journalism and our business model with renewed ambition."
My gosh. Who would have thought that abandoning every decent, ethical journalistic principle in favor of gutlessly fellating the Orange Emperor would be bad for a newspaper? Shocker!

It seems clear Mr. Bezos is tired of his newspaper toy. My prediction: It isn't long for this world. At least not under his ownership. Maybe he can sell it to Elmo.

There seems something subtly brilliant to this.

At the very least, this should pwn a lot of cons. The waste heat from that alone could be used to warm hundreds of rent-controlled apartments this winter, so don't dismiss it outright as a good reason for a move like this.

The Independent: Idaho teacher sues after her ‘Everyone is Welcome’ banner hung at school is outlawed

Idaho officials violated the U.S. and state constitutions when they pushed a public school teacher to take down a classroom banner that featured the words “Everyone is Welcome Here” and hands with various skin tones, according to a federal lawsuit.
Inama said school officials approached her in early February of that year and insisted she take the banner down, explaining that the message of the poster was “an opinion that not everyone agrees with.”

Inama said she told her principal that such thinking “sounds racist,” and he allegedly responded, “I know it’s a bummer.”

More comprehensive article about the West Ada school district. This is something I follow occasionally since it started in Feb '25. Just a small handful of people in the wrong place can really butcher things up.

EDIT The teacher just filed a lawsuit two days ago which is why it is in the news again. Not saying you are late on this Innula, looks like the Independant just pulled up an old news source and sprinkled fairy dust on it.

Bruh.

If I ever accidentally board the wrong plane and end up in Tokyo, I'm making that work. I'll be wandering around the city in "confusion" for a while before I "realize I'm in the wrong place" and head back to the airport to "complain".

" What do you mean, how did I not know this wasn't Tulsa just by looking at it? I'm a stupid American."

Sure, he is "Stepping down." Interesting how the people at the top are rarely "fired." Don't want to harm their employability going forward.

The chief executive of the Washington Post is stepping down, the newspaper has announced, days after overseeing mass lay-offs.

William Lewis said in a message to staff that it was the right time to leave and that "difficult decisions" had been made to ensure the paper's future.

The newspaper had announced on Wednesday that it was cutting a third of its workforce, dramatically scaling back its coverage of sport and international news.

The decision was condemned by many journalists and prompted criticism of the Post's billionaire owner, Jeff Bezos. Executive editor Matt Murray said the cuts would bring "stability".
So, what's next?
Jeff D'Onofrio, who joined as the newspaper's chief financial officer last year, will serve as acting publisher and CEO, the Post said as it announced Lewis's departure.
Who he?
D’Onofrio served as chief executive of Tumblr from 2017 to 2022, after a short tenure as general manager of Yahoo News while Yahoo was owned by Verizon. According to The Verge, his leadership at Tumblr included a decision to ban adult content in an effort to reposition the platform.

The Verge reported that the move led to a significant decline in user traffic. Tumblr was later sold in 2019 to Automattic, the owner of WordPress, for a fraction of the $1.1 billion paid for the platform in 2013.
Oh, he's that guy...
