If Robert Kagan hoped to generate some conversation with a lengthy Washington Post opinion piece last week, he succeeded. Kagan, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and an editor at large for the Post, presented a provocative warning to the public, arguing that the United States faces the possibility of a “dictatorship” if Donald Trump is returned to the White House.

Sen. J.D. Vance — a former Trump critic turned sycophant — evidently wasn’t persuaded by Kagan’s case. On the contrary, the Ohio Republican this week sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland and Secretary of State Antony Blinken seeking some kind of investigation into the published piece.

Let me tell you a simple story: when following discussions over the different religions here on my side of the pond, one argument on which most people did agree immediately is how peaceful buddhism is, and that buddhists never on their own started a war. Ever. Many people considered buddhism as the benchmark religion in terms of peace.

There were a lot of self-identified Buddhists in the Japanese military in World War II, including many folks who engaged in terrible war crimes. Apparently even found Buddhist rationalizations for what they did.

Nah I think he doesn't really care about it and is just using it as an excuse to passive-aggressively whine about the election interference charges against Trump. He's trying to argue that if the sitting president encouraging his followers to prevent the peaceful transfer of power by physically disrupting the vote certification in Congress counts as "election interference" then why doesn't a journalist publishing an op-ed saying he thinks so-and-so is a bad candidate also count? Because those two situations are like exactly the same.

A US citizen "associated with the secret service" has departed the UK despite his employer's "assurances" he would not leave following a car crash that left a nurse unable to walk.
Issac Calderon, 22, was due to appear before magistrates on 1 December.
He is accused of causing Elizabeth Donowho serious injury by dangerous driving before the Herefordshire crash.
Police have told Ms Donowho that he was working on matters "that might come under the Official Secrets Act".
A warrant has been issued for his arrest after he failed to appear in court.

On Tuesday in the House Rules Committee meeting drafting the impeachment inquiry, Ranking Member Jim McGovern (D-MA) said, "all we're asking for is the gentleman to put back in the words 'open and transparent.' For some reason Republicans deliberately removed it. None of us can figure out why."

Oh, I'm pretty sure I know exactly why. They know that if the public saw what kind of a sham this is, they'd lose support.

But, hey, by all means, continue with the sham impeachment inquiry. It will cost you and your party dearly in November.
