Ms. Mordaunt must have removed the sword's sheath at some point; until this photograph, the photos I've seen have shown her carrying the bare blade. As I understand it, sword (and sheath?) weighed 8 pounds. That may be a lot to hold at chest height, steady and perpendicular, for 20-30 minutes (or more!).

That is without the scabbard. Add another .5 lb for the scabbard.

It was rare for any of them to over 10lbs. Still, they do get damned heavy when you have to hold one up for any length of time. It's even worse when you have to hold it with arm(s) extended. Of course, he was taking his sweet assed time to snap the pic.

Imgur.com has introduced today new Terms of Services, which will be effective May 15, 2023. Basically Imgur will forbit uploading of pornographic data and delete old one as well.

Imgur was de facto THE image host for many subreddits, also porno subreddits. Due to that announcement the mood in such subreddits is catastrophic right now, and they are in search of a new image host.

Rome, the eternal city, has a junk problem. A fire has heavily damaged a big waste managemant facilty with incinerator. Reparing the facility will take until 2026.

So the city of Rome will now export every week trainloads of junk to Amsterdam (around 1700 km) in the Netherlands, were it will be burnt. The Dutch have offered this service to Rome, and according to a study this is also the friendliest solution for the environment instead of using a landfill.

Rome is sending weekly trains full of their rubbish to Amsterdam for incineration. It's said to be a sustainable solution to Rome's rubbish management problems.

Ignoring the porno bit, it sounds like they will be mass deleting old pictures in general which will affect VVO not to mention the old SLU.


Also, I had no idea Something Awful was still active. It is not apparent from their front page which says something about changes coming with a new owner. It has said that for years.

I have to take back my recommendation. I've just found a vid blasting the site's creator on factual errors for another of their geopolitical videos. Also, the author has only a small number of world politics videos, showing this is not a primary focus for them.

My state's government got hit with a ransomware attack a year or two ago. They had the right kind of data backup, though. There was still some disruption as the systems were all taken offline and restored, but at least they didn't have to pay millions of dollars to some hacker dweeb. Come on San Bernardino County, get your stuff together.

Did you know, this state has a digital driver license app, AND very soon after the pandemic it optionally included your COVID vaccine record? Yeah, THIS place. I still can hardly believe it. How that managed to come into existence without anyone complaining or anyone in the legislature freaking out and demanding it be canceled is...I dunno, beats the heck out of me.

Last year when I was far into preparing to move to Vermont (didn't work out sadly), I found out that state didn't have any of that. So weird.
