Final note on the "Cyber Symposium" that would ring in the death knell for Biden's election and fly Trump back into office on a magic golf cart:

The Washington Times, the ultra conservative newspaper owned by the Unification Church, reported this.

After promising to show irrefutable evidence with terabytes of data, Mike Lindell shows (ta da!) nothing. Even the bigfoot lives people come up with grainy photographs, geez.

Lindell vowed ahead of the 72-hour event that began in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on Tuesday to show conclusive proof that China hacked voting machines in the 2020 election in favor of President Joe Biden — thus costing Trump victory.

But after the second day on Wednesday, there was no such evidence.

Instead, a cyber expert hired by Lindell to decrypt and analyze what the pillow peddler called “irrefutable” data reportedly said it was unrecoverable in its current state and could not prove hacking.
“So our team said, we’re not going to say that this is legitimate if we don’t have confidence in the information,” Josh Merritt told The Washington Times, adding that Lindell has now canceled his $5 million reward for anyone who can disprove his wild claims.

That's just one more example of how bad trash tv has gotten in recent decades. Geraldo was sleazy, but when he didn't find anything in Capone's vault, at least he was a good sport about it. He admitted it, and sang a couple bars of "Chicago" while he walked away. Liddel didn't even admit he was wrong, let alone sing. How hard is it to sing in 2021, anyway? With autotune, anybody can sing!

He and his other incels seem to live in an environment of absolutely toxic and corrosive rage, hatred of both self and everyone else, especially women, simmered into a mess of venomous despair. It's horrible to read about.

Uh, no, they don't "only feed a military dog at night". Source: had a military parent who instructed dog handlers. I saw the kennel area a couple of times when I was a kid, and watched the trainees feeding them and spraying down the kennels. Of course they do these jobs during the day because at night the trainees are asleep in their freaking dorms. WTF is this guy even talking about?

Afghanistan will be in the hands of the Taliban shortly. Conservatives are pointing their finger at President Biden touting this as a massive failure forgetting that candidate Trump promised to put an end to the war in short order. President Bush forgot about Afghanistan shortly after the Taliban were pushed out of power. This is the final conclusion that was going to happen in the graveyard of empires regardless:

I remember way back when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in December 1979, and the US and the UK responded by arming the resistance forces.

"No good," said my then father-in-law, an Indian who knew his history, "will ever come of arming the Pathans Pashtuns (sorry -- must get this right) and tribal peoples, and hoping they'll remember whose side they're on, because they're on no side but their own, and never have been" rather as one might note that standing in the middle of a busy motorway isn't a good idea.

Afghanistan is a creation of its history and geography. The role of the central government in Kabul is to keep the main roads and passes open, and try to act as an honest broker between the various local rulers and provincial governors, whose role, in turn, is to keep the peace between the local tribes and clans as they get on with farming, feuding, smuggling and, in some provinces, growing a considerable proportion of the world's opium supply, with all that implies.

Britain learned the hard way in 1842 that they simply needed to pay whoever rules Kabul whatever they wanted to keep the Khyber Pass open and to keep the Russians out, and then leave them to get on with their lives, and I really think we should make that our priority now, while offering asylum to anyone who wants to escape from the rule of the Taliban, and the local chiefs, village and clan leaders, and local war-lords who are temporarily supporting them until they change their minds.

ETA: The North West Frontier and the Khyber Pass were the frontier of British rule in India, just as the South Eastern Frontier of the Russian Empire's continuing expansion south east, as they continued to subdue the various Turkic peoples living there. The "great game," I think, was primarily a figment of the Victorian Foreign Office's imagination, as they interpreted Russian actions through a fixed, and somewhat skewed, prism, but the peoples living on the other side of those boundaries were people neither empire could defeat on their own ground, any more than could the Persians or Moghuls.

Feigning shock that the final chapter to a 20-year lost war in Afghanistan did not go as planned for the U.S. military, the media remain in overdrive, breathlessly presenting the U.S. troop withdrawal as a presidency-defining failure for Joe Biden.

Thankfully, the dire picture that the press painted over the weekend of the widespread death and destruction that the Taliban would soon unleash on Kabul has not materialized. Instead, the controversial U.S. evacuation has become more orderly and efficient, which is why cable news has pulled back on the story — CNN mentioned “Afghanistan” 30 percent fewer times on Wednesday as compared to Monday, according to TVeyes.com.
Commenting on Biden’s Monday address to the nation and the cultural disconnect between the public and the press, MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace observed, “"95% of the American people will agree with everything [President Biden] just said. 95% of the press covering this White House will disagree."

Not quite 95%, but then not quite the same question...
